Dear people,
Let me begin my post by introducing myself. My name is Graham Chin and I go by the nickname of StaiN. I have won the World Cyber Games Malaysia on two occasions (in 2007 and 2008) and the Electronic Sports World Cup Malaysia (in 2006). I have been a member of Team nKaa, Hybrid and [LZ]. I am still a member of Hybrid as it is more of a brotherhood rather than a clan.
First things first, as you know that the last time Malaysia sent a Counterstrike team over to a World Cyber Games FINALS it was in 2008 where Team [LZ] which consists of:
Lau Chee Teik / syck Gavin Lam / gavin Lian Kong Chian / nitroN Ng Yew Siang / hix Graham CHin / StaiN
We were given very good treatment by IN2 as they are very generous people and have proved themselves as a very good organisation hosting uncountable amount of Malaysia qualifiers in the past. However as they have backed out of hosting the World Cyber Games in this country (I dont know whether they lost the rights to the license, or whether they sold it or...) Malaysia has since only opted to send winners of individual games. I believe this move is because most organisations are seeking to cut costs in this tight times. Usually the winner of Counterstrike is only ALLOCATED a slot INTERNATIONALLY ONLY if they are able to find their own sponsors.
Fast forward to this years Malaysia qualifiers. Team Hybrid win another World Cyber Games Malaysia, the team that won the qualifiers consisted of:
Sanjay Anantharajah / sniggy Lau Chee Teik / syck Azmir Hamzah / jackal Lian Kong Chian / nitroN Azim Yazid / bobo
Immediately after winning, the team were promised to be sponsored to represent Malaysia in Busan, Korea. However due to work constraints jackal and syck did not have the time necessary to participate. Therefore Julian Khoo / KrixxKroxx and myself were asked to replace them in the lineup. Contracts were prepared by our sponsor and certain ISSUES prevented us from signing the contracts and representing Malaysia on another occasion.
It is really sad to see unlike individual games, Counter Strike champions are required to seek for their own funds to go abroad. At the end of the day, not many would want to sponsor a team that is going to go abroad and just get demolished. To improve the Counter Strike scene further, I believe local teams need to go abroad and BOOTCAMP. This way the team are able to garner experience, exposure, and learn more about the game and the teams that they would face on a international level.
On another note, the Counter Strike Online post that you wrote is total bullsh*t. Please get your own facts right before even thinking of coming here and flaming everyone including the organisation (SMM), our country, our government and such. Only flame such things when you've got a positive argument.
The picture that you uploaded is from the Kuala Lumpur STATE qualifiers. The lineup in that picture consists of:
Sanjay Anantharajah / sniggy Daryl Chua / insanity Willis Loye / RomeoX Jasper / jasper Noxious
This lineup won the event and took home RM1500.
Before Team RageFaction took part in the finals held in Mid Valley they made two changes to the team, bringing in Prasad Paramajothi / StrykerX and myself.
Also we are a MIXTURE of both a MALAYSIAN and SINGAPOREAN team.
We managed to secure victory after a closely fought battle against Aufghets in the finals. We won RM7000 and are promised that the prize money will be transferred to one of our accounts within two weeks.
These are facts, now just look at yourself and think, "Why did I even make a post?"
On another note, I am selling a BRAND NEW RAZER IMPERATOR. Please let me know!
Thank you for reading,
Yours sincerely,
Graham Chin / StaiN

QUOTE(snoxd @ Dec 7 2011, 02:54 PM) Thanks for the info. They will be thankful, in the end the winner of all sponsored money goes to? If all can't commit themselves, consecutively for 3 years they are fat with all the sponsored money masuk pocket. If there is no one complain, what is wrong of sapu all sponsored money? For 3 years if they are not spending or reward back the sponsored money to the players, the prizes should not be only RM 7,000 but should be more because for 2 years these sponsored money should be in their account after deducting 5 players air ticket, lodging, travel, etc. Instead no photos is taken with mocked cheque more than RM 7K for the third years. They sad is a cash prize but how can cash prize turn to become bank transfer? what kind of cash prize suddenly become bank transfer and have to wait few days?I only agree with one line you say, the rest is just more and more bull....... Jebus.

QUOTE(snoxd @ Dec 7 2011, 03:34 PM) First of all if the sponsor agreed then champions are not required to seek for own funds. Now the problem with sponsor or Malaysia authority? the Grand Final for CS 1.6 already over where they already take picture of RM 7K mocked cheque given to the champion? No leave available on Thursday and Friday? everyone have annual leave, what is more important than representing Malaysia? "champions seeking own funds = money out of your own pocket, or finding your own sponsors" so when I said "sponsor agreed" means a sponsor that WE FOUND.They're work is tough and annual leave has already been taken up as it is the end of the year IF YOU DIDNT REALISE.

Thanks for praising me my friend. To be honest, I do feel where your coming from here, as I feel the same thing that the community is slowly breaking apart from one another due to the lack of sponsorships and support from the authorities. However, I do think that you should state actual facts and read up about certain missing information in your writeups. But nonetheless good mentions of the lack of support within Esports in our country. On another note, we've got to understand that posting it here would not help the players, organisations, sponsors, or the governement. Maybe it would be better if we could get someone from the local newspaper or media to acknowledge the lack of support in this industry. I bet you no one else knows that Team Hybrid even exists apart from ourselves and the little gaming community we have.

My friend.
We would love to cling on as well and stick together, but as everyone grows up it is harder. As mentioned before being an actually professional gamer in our country is not as easy as many other places. Funds that are put in to e-sports are nowhere near to what is needed. In addition, costs of living has risen so it is hard for anyone to even concentrate on "gaming" full time, we dont live in Sweden nor Korea.
The problem is not within Samsung at the end of the day, is is because of many other reasons.
I dont quite get it with what you mean by "sponsor money". As far as I know sponsors just provide pcs, gear, and other necessary equipment to run the tournaments, and in return garner brand exposure.
On another note, I have hung up my boots and do not really focus on Counterstrike as much as I have a family to run now and am all grown up. As we age we tend to have less time for our hobbies as we are spammed with even more responsibilities.
Again I am very glad that you are WILLING to speak to higher authorities to help gamers. It is an achievement in its own right. Continue to spread the word, and who knows one day you might actually change the situation that we are all suffering in.
Kudos
Graham Chin / StaiN
Added on December 8, 2011, 10:56 pmI believe the Orange part that you mentioned is nothing to do with favoritism but they believe in young blood. As you see with their DotA squad and such, they are recruiting newer blood with a few experienced people in Orange.CS case (rico, zyrex and m0nst@rrr). This I believe can further enhance the scene and encourage more to play. Same with Karnal by hosting a tournament to seek out a Team 2 of YOUNG BLOOD who can excel in the future. Get it?

My Friend,
Orange members are not my my juniors or past teammates as you've mentioned earlier. I have only played alongside Rico (the team leader of Orange) in the year 2007 where we clinched the World GameMaster Tournament together under the team name Invuls (other members include Jabronizs, bobo, fions).
I agree with what you say about Tony Fernandes, he seems the sort of guy to come into something like this, and he MAY regard it as a sport, like the rest of us. But then again, maybe not as there is MUCH LESS publicity compared to Formula 1 (Caterham in 2012, Lotus in 2011) and the EPL (Queens Park Rangers). Maybe it was our bad not truly trying in the sense of doing "desperate measures" such as TWEETING him (since we dont have connections to the individual)
I reckon you should also not hit out at Si_Jali. He is by far Malaysias #1 gamer having clinched Malaysias HIGHEST ever placing at a World Cyber Games in Singapore (2005, I think it was). I was behind him watching and he managed to seal 4th place. In addition, he has done many things for the community, having founded spotgamers, and Malaysias first ever Esports stadium. We should appreciate all the work that he has put in.
Here I will list out my route to success in Malaysia for Counter Strike
2001 - Formed Invulnerables with Jason Teng / json
2002 - Joined nKaa.SilverSurfer with SiuPakChoi, JohnyD, and some others I cant remember - Formed Invulnerables with Jason Teng / json - Joined newbie league in Virtual Arena, Sri Hartamas
2003 - Merged with AoN (Sanjay Anantharajah / sniggy, Kevin & Kerry Davis / grnmons + canceR, Daniel Leong / fions, Lian Kong Chian / nitroN, Adrian Mak / jad)
2004 - Joined ESWC Malaysia and achieved 3rd place. Also took place in Asia ESWC in Malaysia
2005 - Dont know what happen this year
2006 - Won ESWC Malaysia and ended FMJ's long winning streak - Represented Malaysia at Paris (ESWC)
2007 - Won WCG Malaysia - Represented Malaysia at Seattle (WCG) - Participated without our FULL team team, because a member couldn't get a visa
2008 - Left Hybrid to join [LZ] along with syck, nitroN, gavin, hix - Beat Hybrid in the finals and won second WCG in a row with two different teams back 2 back - Represented Malaysia at Cologne (WCG)
2009-2010 - Retired
2011 - Took part in WCG for fun, and achieved 4th place in Malaysia - Counter Strike Online Champions in One Asia Cup

I have no idea what to say to you anymore
Every sponsorship in the world is the same, companies/organizations sponsor events/leagues/etc to publicize their brand and garner more customer base. So I dont see where your coming from.
I am too lazy to reply your dumb posts anymore, this has nothing to do with esports as we can see, but just trying to brainwash the rest of us with the oppositions manipulative ways (as usual). This should go under the Politics thread not here.
