It is VERY easy to reflash the ECU actually if you have the equipments. Not all region owners can come down to KL for a ECU remap. So I would like to share it as well. smile.gif

First you will need a few things:

1. Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 Cable - You can get a similar OBD2 port from eBay at much cheaper price compare to Tactrix. Just search around. It cost around RM20 below.

2. ECU Flash Software (Latest Version) - http://openecu.org/downloads/ecuflash_1422595_win.exe

3. Laptop running a stable Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

4. You need a ROM or Flash Tune from RPW.

If you have a modified ROM/Flash Tune + original Inspira default ROM from RPW or Kenny & all things listed on top, you can straight away proceed to STEP 2 and skip STEP 1.

STEP 1:
After you have ready all the above equipments, proceed to next step below :

1. Download and install ECU Flash (and included OpenPort Drivers) to your laptop.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

2. In the car, ensure the ignition is switched OFF then plug in your Tactrix unit into the car's OBD Port.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

3. Plug the USB into the Tactrix and the laptop. If this is the first time doing this, Windows may install a few things. Wait for this to complete before proceeding.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

4. Open up ECU Flash program. Click the "Read from ECU" button as shown and then select "2006+ Mitsubishi CAN Vehicles" from the list. Press the read button. When prompted, turn the ignition to ON and press OK.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

5. Now wait while your ECU ROM File is read. The car will cycle through the various warning messages while this is happening. This is normal, as it indicates the car's ECU is in Programming Mode.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

6. When this is done, you will be prompted to switch off the ignition. Do so. Next the following screen will popup. Select the option shown and press next.

STEP 2:

1. Download from the email the RPW ECU Tuned ROM and save it in a safe location, such as My Documents. Open up that location in Windows Explorer.

2. Copy the "52190007 Public Beta.xml" file (Note the numbers are different depending on the car) into the directory: C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\Mitsubishi\Lancer .

3. Ensure the car's ignition is OFF. Open up EcuFlash, connect the Tactrix cable to the OBD port then plug the USB end into the laptop.

4. In EcuFlash, click on the "Open File" button and open up the "Fred Smith MY08 5MT RPW Stage 1 ROM.hex" file from where you saved it in step 1.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

5. Now click the "Write to ECU" button, turn the ignition on when prompted, and the ROM will be copied across.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

6. Once the write is complete, when prompted, switch off the ignition then unplug the Tactrix cable from the OBD port.

7. Now start the engine! It should act as normal.

Congrats! No go test drive!

----

If you get a Check Engine light after writing (sometimes on CVT cars) follow this:

1. Make sure the ignition is off. Plug in the Tactrix Cable to the OBD port

2. Click the "Read from ECU" button and follow the prompts to read the ROM.

3. Once that is complete, under the ECU menu in EcuFlash there will be an option "Clear DTCs" Click that and it will clear them.
