Hope you guys can help. How does the pre-order for XL work? The site says have to deposit the full amount into their account?? Or is that only for online shopping and shipping to your house?

Or is just going to the shop, pre-order and paying a deposit?

I've never pre-ordered from XL before. So far, the stuff I've bought were mainly off the shelves at either Midvalley or BTS.

Finally got my HT Batman! It arrived at the store a couple of days back but I didn't have time to go pick it up.

Here are some quick pics taken with my iPhone, hence the picture quality. Plus, it was evening here and the sun was setting.....



The place pre-ordered my TDK stuff didn't have any suits so I had to borrow from the HT 2-in-1 Supes/Clark Kent suit. Clark and Bruce are such buddies, I'm sure Clark doesn't mind


Wanted to see how a casual look would be, used a black t-shirt that's from a VERY HOT Navy SEAL CQB set.

First off, I must say that this is a fantastic looking figure. The Batman figure is great, the Bale likeness is great.

But I do have a few observations about the figure:

- The TAKARA is slightly taller than the Hot Toys version as seen in the pics below

- Love the new Hot Toys headsculpt. The old one was horrible, that's why I went for TAKARA as it was the best one at that time and the TAKARA Bale sculpt was pretty good for its time. Hot Toys wins hands down this time.

The Batman facesculpt has lines, which adds character to it. The TAKARA one now looks like its as smooth as a baby's bottom

- Someone mentioned he was top heavy. He is, I think I might have to use the stand as the ankles seem to be a little loose. Either that or I don't have them plugged in properly. I didn't realize that his boots were removable, thought they were like the TAKARA ie. foot/ankle sealed inside the boots

- I thought there was an error with my belt because there's a cylinder thinggie just next to the Batarang holders. Because of that, the Batarang can't be held in place properly as the cylinder is in the way. But I just checked the photos and the cylinder IS there in the pics

I think the problem is that the HT Batarangs are a little too big, therefore the cylinder on the utility belt gets in the way. If the Batarangs were slightly smaller like the TAKARA ones, I think there wouldn't be a problem

- Found that the Hot Toys gauntlets are a little loose. Maybe it was intentionally done

- I've always thought that the Hot Toys hands didn't look natural. It seemed that way when I was posing it for some quick shots with the TAKARA. It just didn't seem right. Don't know if anyone remembers the V1 Begins, with the "karate chop action" hand. It was just straight and flat, just didn't look right.

In this case, the fists he comes with just doesn't look as natural as the TAKARA ones

- I think Hot Toys have changed the cape. It's still dual layered (or 1 piece folded and stitched to make it thicker). If I remember correctly, the V1 had some sort of satin/silk lining. I could be wrong though

But as I mentioned, fantastic and I love it. I think its better than the TAKARA version that I have. Here's some pics:

IC, TAKARA Batman was the only 1/6th figure by TAKARA that I have. Not really interested in the others. The only other TAKARA I have are Transformers

Not a fan of G.I. Joe but that Snake Eyes looks mighty good. And all that gear he comes with! Tempted

At least this one's got interchangeable hands - I heard/read Old Snake has no hands ie. the hands are part of the suit and its hollow!

I read somewhere and saw the pics where there was a little cardboard sign that said that bust was a "Toyhunter" exclusive.

I guess only if you buy from the HT shop in Hong Kong then. Just like how they gave TDK paper bags when they sold the HT Batman V2 and Joker V1.

Finally got my Joker. Decided to do something about the eyes because people were saying it wasn't "movie accurate". Also, I've seen other people repaint the whole head and it looks better with the black around the eyes.....

Used a M.A.C eyeliner pencil to darken the area around the eyes. Some people said its abit too dark though.

But I wonder why people keep saying the eyes are too black?

I didn't refer to any pic when I "repainted" it, but that mental image was just stuck in my head. Everytime I think Joker, its the black around the eyes. Maybe its from the "Why So Serious" poster below:



I think that influenced me to go for dark circles around the eyes, but even in the movie, there were scenes that it looks dark to me?

Right, I think I know what you guys mean now

Unfortunately yes, ordered them all the day they were available for pre-order and I think I need to put a stop here! Not really interested in any other figures. Unless they do a really nice 2-in-1 Gordon figure Two-Face not so much, but depends on the prototype if/when Hot Toys releases pics.

I'm a kipas-susah-mati fan since Batman 89 by Burton After that movie, collected Batman comics, got a model kit of the 89 Batmobile etc.

I've never bought so many figures from a single 12inch line before! All the others were just my favourite characters eg:

- 12" Aragorn from Sideshow LOTR line
- 12" Corporal Dwayne Hicks from Hot Toys Aliens line
- 12" 2-in-1 Superman/Clark Kent from Hot Toys Superman Returns line

The Dark Knight is killing me

These are all quick few minute "repaints". Just testing out to see what the outcome would be and if I could make Joker's face "better". If I have the time and patience, I might see if I can improve it some more. Fact is, I'm not a "modeller".

Don't have the patience and skill to build models and paint. The only model I got was the 1989 Batmobile but it was already black so no painting needed

Be gentle now, this is the first time I'm "repainting" my toys. Never repainted, modded any of my toys before.

I see, I was always more of a DC guy ever since I was a kid. Dunno why. Iron Man does look good and impressive but because I'm not a big fan, I get to resist the temptation of both Mark II and Mark III

However, after much consideration, I placed an order for the She-Predator Machiko as well. It's Angelina Jolie!

I read in a US forum that they heard news that their TDK Suited Batman is shipping next week! I dunno how true it is. Where did you order yours from? I haven't heard anything about our local shipment yet though. It's weird because no official pics yet etc. I read/seen the changes that they've made to the suit, specifically the cowl and the armor but not a single new official pic yet.

I'm gonna be hit with a double whammy if the TDK suit Batman and She-Predator are shipped the same time!

OIC, you ordered from XL. I ordered from somewhere else, closer to my home. Anyway, I guess MMS71 is TDK suit Batman.

I think the original release date was August but I guess with all the changes/modifications HOT TOYS done to it to make it more accurate, production was delayed etc. Read that the Tumbler/Batmobile as well as the Batpod has been pushed to a early 2009 release as well.

I'm not complaining, gives me some breathing space The original prototype pics already looked good, won't mind it as it was, even with the slightly inaccurate cowl. But of course if its closer to the movie representation - that would be excellent.

On one hand I'm hoping its all delayed for financial reasons, on the other, I just can't wait to have them!

One thing, my Joker's left arm was loose out of the box. Hard to hold a pose with the left arm when he's wearing the grey suit and the purple jacket.

Is this the same True-Type figure as others or is it a slimmer version for Joker. Does anyone know? Lazy to undress then try on the spare True-Type body I have
