QUOTE(wookp @ Jan 13 2015, 09:01 PM) Hi there, I plan to start getting a betta to beautify my home. It's 8cm depth (actual should be 6cm perhaps considering the thick glass) is really small for a betta to swim let alone put in other things. The aquarium I am planning to get is from IKEA, http://www.ikea.com/my/en/catalog/products/30175220/ I am planning to house this betta with maybe some other smaller fishes if possible. Is it recommended and what are the types? Also, i am planning to buy some aquatic plants and deadwood/shelter. Where can I get all this? Is there a recommended shop that sells all these? |

QUOTE(wookp @ Jan 13 2015, 11:04 PM) It's 18cm depth. 8cm width. So you think it's too narrow? Most likely you'll have to remove your fish every time you want to clean something which may be stressful to it. How big is your tank? And where can i get it? It looks fantastic! I have a 11cm ( ~10cm internal)) deep tank for guppy fries and that's kinda hard to work on as well. The betta tank is an Up-Aqua super white glass 22x15x18 tank. |

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Oct 19 2015, 08:38 PM) about the changing water part, can anybody teach me how to do it? any dechlorinator needed? do we need a filter for this? Everyone got different approach but I use an azoo palm filter with wool on top and bio rings on the bottom as media. A cut pre-filter is used on the outlet to prevent disturbing the water which both fish and floating plant don't like.Reason being is sometimes when I go on vacation or something, there won't be anyone to help maintain. Also my betta has a nasty habit of biting its own tail so have to take care of water to prevent infection. The floating plants are there for the same reason. You can don't use filter but have to be more careful and frequent with water change. Speaking about water change, I do ~30% water change twice a week. The water I used are tap water de-clorinated with Seachem Prime and aged overnight. So happens I was just doing some housekeeping so snap a few photos. ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(affinity_07 @ Dec 15 2015, 10:45 AM) Hi, I just bought a betta yesterday for my kid (actually more for me as the kid is only 4) in a 1.25L aquarium. He started blowing bubbles today just after a night. Is this normal? What should I do with the bubbles? Just leave it. Its a sign that your betta is happy, healthy and looking for a mate. |
