Something is wrong with my fish. I got him a month ago, but since yesterday he's been acting weird, I was feeding him but he doesn't want to eat at all, and he keeps lying on the floor sideways. Is anything wrong with it?

It never happened before, after I saw him just laying sideways, I straight away go change water, but never put salt. Should I?

Bro, just sharing my experience, had the same situation 2-3 months back and my 2 bettas was behaving the same way. Gloomy and eating less and less, then stop flaring. Did the same treatment of changing water and adding salt but it didn't help much, it only help to keep them longer around 2 weeks before they died.

So I hope your one will survive..

Thank you, I'll definitely try. I really don't want it to pass away. =[

Hi guys, I'm in Australia right now. But I prefer to ask things here.

I just got a new betta, my other one passed away and my girlfriend was really saddened by that. So this new one I would hope to last for a longer time.

I have questions about the water change, the pet shop owner told me I should only change 20% of the water, but I'm just wondering, if I keep the other 80%, how to clean the water?? It is currently in a jar, and I would hope to change to a 10L tank soon. What safety measure should I do to change the water? How do I take the fish out? Would net damage the fish?

I want it to look great while being able to live longer, I don't need it to be beautiful for competitions, just want it to be beautiful for itself nia.

And what are ketapang leaves name in English? I am currently looking for plants for it to play, I don't remember the name of the fish species, but the owner said its a dumbo betta.. Because of the fins looking like dumbo ear. Help me with this guys! : (

Ketapang = Indian Almond leaves.

it's advisable to use aged water.  Usually i will keep the tap water into a clean pail and will only use it for water change the next day.
Since my betta tanks aren't that huge, I'll do 100% water change (with aged water).

Thanks! Will try that. : )

Will nets hurt the fish?

No worries.  Can you find Indian Almond tree in Australia?  I don't recall seeing any when I used to stay there.....Brisbane.
The net won't hurt the fish, but scoop with care and gently.

I heard it isn't allowed to import here, but there are group buys every now and then. I will try to ask the pet shops about it.
