Hi everyone! I'm new to this hobby... just got my first betta, Tom, a few days ago. The first day, my bowl was not set up properly and he's stressed out (no hiding spot). After I set up the bowl with a floating plant and cave for him to hid, he was very happy and start to blow bubble nest. I would like to know more about my betta, what type of tail he has, etc. Got him for just RM5, so I doubt if it's premium breed. Would appreciate any info I can get on my muse haha.

Btw, I feed him five pellets per day, the very small size pellets for betta. Is it sufficient?

Thanks!

I think I know this shop. My mum used to visit it very often last time. The shop has been there for many many years, near the wet market.

maybe u can try to capture a clearer full flare pic so that we can help to identify.

anyway i assume it is a super delta. but from the pic it looks like it has a bit torn fin at the caudal. better be careful of fin rot.

Tried to get full flare pics but he's not every cooperative (or maybe my skills not good enough biggrin.gif )

The fin is already in this condition when I got him from the LFS. Will it heal and what do I need to do?

Just to share my latest setup after a few failures...

1. I realized if your tank is too small, the water temperature is more prone to fluctuation from on/off AC and your betta might be more susceptible to ich. Two of my betta died suddenly due to ich due to this.
2. Even though filter is not required, I reckon adding one with adjustable current flow will provide a healthier environment for my betta.
3. I on the small battery operated LED lamp at night to mimic the moon light, it gives a very very soft light.

Thanks Edmund... Well, I only have one betta now, so I can splurge a bit on it. Not sustainable if I keep more, haha.

My betta is sick, the scales are sticking out like pine cones, I think it's dropsy. Any place where I can buy medication for dropsy? It has not been eating for 5 days.
