I am a newbie betta owner.

I find out I did a mistake when I was away because my friend is spending time with me during new year and I am back home once a day to feed my fish.

I try to mate my male and female betta and left them overnight for 3 days sad.gif

I think the mating process is successful because I saw lots of fry BUT both parents are dead sad.gif

Both severely injured and died on the 1st day of CNY. Sigh !!

To honor them, I think I need to make sure the fry is alive as much as possible ... Dad is long tail deep blue in color and mum is white with red fins and tail half moon with one tiny black spot on the head.

I should have taken them out on day two when I saw there is a tiny black "thingy" on the bubble but I just left it one more day which end up tragically for both parents. Max is ONLY 2 days for mating .. I hope I will learn from my mistake and the fry grow as beautiful as their parents. Sadly I did not show off by taking pic of their parents .. Only memory left in my mind so vivid that I feel like sharing my first betta post here.

I hope I will be a betta care person in near future as I am just a proud owner for slightly more than a week.

Love always,

Blue and White spot, from Justin TT.TT

Hi all,

Can I ask if I can get micro worms from lfs ? I do not see any selling at Pudu Ulu or even in Pudu. Do I need to ask them directly ?

I bought before the red small thingy, should be like brine shrimp and it goes "smelly" and turn to dark brown after few days which I don't know why.

I see red worm sold before in Pudu, only once and it kinda "eew"

Have not know much anything about Daphnia.

I am trying out microworm to feed my betta, not the fry smile.gif

microworm is too small and no nutrient for betta la.. for adult betta  just feed them pellet.

BBS can only last 1 day after u hatch it.

No wonder it goes foul .. thanks for the info.

I did not hatch it my own. I buy frm lfs

MW culture u need to re-culture it every few days. Furthermore, it is very smelly to me. thats y i din keep any MW.

Grindal worm on the other hand u can feed ur betta with it, since the size is bigger  but still prefer bloodworm and adult brine shrimp if live food. Anyway, pellet is the most economical and disease free food.

I totally understand your view. It is just in case that the community tank i have spawn, at least I got the microworm in handy. I don't think of any other food to feed the fry if they really do exist in the first place.

I do not have much space sad.gif

MW is only suitable for fry for at most 1weeks, after that u have to switch to others live food if u wan the fish to grow nicely.

thanks for the info. that is useful to me and I will keep in mind smile.gif

I killed my betta accidentally I think .. will cover of the lid disrupted the air and kill betta subsequently ?

I remember seeing on of them in the morning fine .. Could leaving 2 female in a community tank end up one dead in just one day ?
