 Door Knob Hole, How to cover it up?

I change my room door knob hole.the original is the turning knob and change to a handle type.but there is a hole in the knob cover.the old knob screw is much longer than the 1 i bought
can i know how to fix it?what i need to fill up the hole?

just tell the hardware shop i wan wood silicone?
are they those silicone gun silicone?
