The itty bitty tips we should know about bodybuilding and weightlifting in general
In the gym: 1. DO NOT start chatting with someone doing a set or preparing to. unless you want a dumbbell thrown at you 2. Save the small talk for after workouts, or outside the gym. Rest periods are usually 1-3 mins between sets so keep your chatter to a minimal 3. Dont slam the db's down. You'll look more badass if you put them back on the rack without a sound. You look like a tard slamming down 20lbs DB's. Really. 4. Keep back the plates and rack DB's back. Doesnt matter if no one else does it. Lead by example.
General tips 1. Rinse and clean your shaker bottle and leave the cap open so it wont smell 2. Wear non compressible shoes (ie skater shoes) when doing deads/squats. 3. Good form is always, ALWAYS, better than using heavier weights.
Feel free to add in, guys.

In the gym. Shut up, don't ask what kind of protein someone use, and train hard..

When someone is lifting, don't be a turd and still between him and the mirror. I know there's 6 feet of space there, but really, nobody wants to look at you when there's a loaded barbell above their head.

My personal preference for #2: Don't wear shoes at all when squatting/deadlifting. I usually kick off my shoes and leave them by the side of the squat rack, and get back to them after I've finished squatting. This post has been edited by -Dan: Nov 30 2011, 12:02 AM

QUOTE(-Dan @ Nov 30 2011, 12:01 AM) My personal preference for #2: Don't wear shoes at all when squatting/deadlifting. well, fitness centers dont allow barefoot lifting, haha. will definitely do barefoot in the new gym im joining though! - try to not occupy 2 machines at once during crowded times. if you have to, please be considerate and let others work in. - DONT CURL IN THE SQUAT RACK IF SOMEONE WANTS TO SQUAT. Its fine if no one is using it but please, move when someone says they want to squat there.

Really? Even if you just take the shoes off at the beginning of the set and put them on again after re-racking? And I've actually taken a liking to curling in the squat rack now. It helps that only 3 people who go to the gym actually do squats and the squat rack is perpetually empty. Heh
