QUOTE(erszebeth @ Jan 15 2013, 10:56 AM) guys, is it hard to put SSD into m17x? planning to upgrade mine.. but not sure if the ssd can be inserted easily into the hdd bay. will it void warranty? It's quite easy, just unscrew and replace ur hdd, ssd will fit in the m17x hdd tray

depends on your bios version, in A08 and below, module 1 runs at SATA 6gbps, which is faster if ur ssd is compatible. in the newer bios, both runs at SATA 3gbps, however you can use unlocked bios to keep the module 1 at 6gbps even at A12
and you can just put ur ssd in the other hdd bay, you wont void the warranty

QUOTE(erszebeth @ Jan 22 2013, 02:27 PM) for gaming purposes, is RAM with 1600 and 1333 mhz speed diff noticeable? and is m17x-r3 compatible with 1600 mhz? currently im using 8gb ddr3 1333 mhz. last question, the 7mm thick SSD can be fit in into the hdd bay of m17x r3..? afraid buy wrong stuff. huhu. thanks.. faster RAM won't do much difference in gaming, only in benchmarks you can see the difference 7mm SSD will fit nicely as you just need to screw the sides to the caddy, I'm also using a 7mm ssd now
