Hi, i want to ask. Is it true that its cheaper to buy from overseas instead of locally? for example, from US. What about the tax? and does alienware has International warranty?

no tax for laptop.

supposely should have it, but quite troublesome for you to transfer the warranty, can use online dell warranty transfer system.

Okay thanks smile.gif

May i ask if anyone here has experience buying laptop from US?

overseas are cheaper where there is a lot thing they offered in malaysia(default)is not offered by them.

most important thing is they dont offer complete cover as default. try upgrade, u know is more expensive d.
2nd thing, wifi adaptor, malaysia are using strong wifi adaptor intel 6205, where overseas only using 1502(inspiron in malaysia).

there are a lot small small thing where u didnt notice

I see, another question. If i get an alienware. Will i be able to upgrade its gpu in the future?

what mean? so if i got overseas set but is also refurbished, my 1yr international warranty is no use de? i scared i buy wrong, but if got "service tag" on the laptop to check my warranty then it should be ok right? if dell will recognize my warranty then mean my laptop is not refurbished?

sorry, noob here. i am scared i make wrong decision. thank

you sure it is Dell international warranty? or warranty by local company?

it does look good. Will keep it in my list too. I'm currently looking at a few backpacks for my asus G55. Cause i remember M17x were almost a similar size to the G53sx. Thats why i'm curious. Most of the backpack im looking at, doesnt really fit. And i remember seeing your post somewhere that you uses cad or 3D max? architecture student?

SA have their own quota for discount. You can ask for discount even if you are purchasing a basic spec, but of course the discount will be higher for every upgrade made.

Basically the discount start vary from RM60 to RM 200 and above.

that's kinda good hmm.gif

anyone here using their alienware for assgs? Especially those that are in design courses or engineering courses. In terms of rendering performance, will a 7970 > gtx675 or its the other way? Lets say, i'm using it for video editing/photoshop or simply just to render a 3D model.

Hi guys

I have been searching around for answers but sadly couldn't find them.

I'm thinking of upgrading my M17x R3 460M to 580M. Is there any reputable sellers around?

I heard of illeGear but he seems to be only dealing with Sager laptops so I'm not sure if it works with Alienware ones.

since u're asking in this thread, i believe u already foresee what is your answer rite...  tongue.gif

but by judging from your usage, i would rather recommend the Macbook line, reason being is the color accuracy for their screen is above average for imaging purposes (as what u stated).
but then again, all goes back again to your own preference though..  brows.gif

MBP are good for graphic designers but i wouldn't recommend them for architectural/engineering intensive softwares.

Why so?

i will first begin to say that the MBP aren't strong enough to support the intensive usage of such softwares but of course there are people (students mostly) who uses far lower specs and still get good feedback. But for better processor and a better graphic card. I guess that's where a gaming laptop can come in handy, or with that budget to get a MBP, maybe a desktop will be better.

autodesk softwares for MAC tends to fall short in terms of productivity and available functions, probably due to the number of bugs that appeared. So i'd say autodesk programmes perform better in PC rather than Mac. Since Autodesk in Mac is fairly new.
