yep smile.gif and dont forget to update your graphic card driver. two first things i always do, other than installing softwares and antivirus biggrin.gif
then installed c-cleaner to disable some programs from starting up when i startup my windows. really make the whole system startup so much faster.

anyways a little bit about my experience with dell on site service. they came to my apartment today to fix the x51 famous wireless problem, it wasnt fix at all. problem still persist. so they sending another technician to fix again tomorrow. the previous technician was not knowledgeable, he didnt even know how to open up the x51 tilll he nearly broke the notch. i was really disappointed though. after putting the system back, it wouldnt start. he called dell center to ask. then he took out the 2 ram cards and put back again. thank god the computer start up after that.

and about 2 and a half years ago, that time my m11x had hinge problem. that time they didnt have the on site service for my area at shah alam. so they send someone to pick up my m11x and bring back to their center to fix. guess what, they did a good job fixing, replaced the lcd panel etc. but, they watched freaking PORN with my laptop. I found out cuz i checked the history, and etc. very shocked. but also, thank god they didnt do anything bad to my privacy, like email and stuffs. the hinge problem was solved for about 1 and a half year. just two days ago, i sent my m11x to alienware center here in US (cuz im in US now) to be fixed. second time, but no complains cuz its free. only downside is, i just didnt like it when customers paid full price for a premium product, but the design was defected sad.gif
it will be back tomorrow and i will update you guys again. and also the technician will come to fix my x51 tomorrow too. had many issues (hardware) with my alienware products throughout these years. nevertheless, i am still a strong supporter and big fan. love alienware, and never will i ever buy another laptop or computer brand. i can live with the defects, as long as they provide exceptional customer service.

Unboxing of GTX 660 Ti and upgrading to my Alienware X51. (with my 3 year old M11x at the side cool2.gif )
Sorry for the noobness, first timer! biggrin.gif
hope this video helps to those who want to upgrade their X51 GPU. works perfectly fine, and the performance doubles-triples the GTX555 OEM.

Today, I have all my Alienware systems fixed!

Here is my blog link to show my satisfaction with Dell's on-site service. They basically replaced the whole M11x bottom panel for me because the rubber feet fell off, causing heat issue. Thanks alot Dell!

same here, bought my R1 when it first came out, the first batch. had the LCD panel replaced twice already. The second time was just recently. and also the whole chassis were replaced last week too. aesthetically looks brand new, but performance wise may not be able to catch up with the latest softwares and games. nevertheless i love my m11x. I only use it for college works, and light photo editing. it has been my main work horse for photoshop and lightroom usage for all these while!

anyways, just upgraded to the x51 smile.gif loving both my alienware!

i have a question, if i already uninstall my alien respawn long time ago, and i wanna restore back to factory settings, can i reinstall back the alienrespawn and use it like normal? or is there any settings or partition etc i need to do in order to restore back factory settings?

and I am also thinking of the current 1tb hdd in my x51 and replacing it with 2 SSD drive (1 128GB SSD + 1 750GB SSD/HDD hybrid) what are the steps? install the converter (with 2 ssd drives) first? I am so lack of knowledge in this! what are sata 1 2 3, etc. help!

converter if i put two ssd inside this casing, will i see 2 hard drives in my windows system? or i will only see one since its both combined into one?

guys, my m11x this morning died .. i will call dell after my exam. dang. i am so worried now sad.gif
i turned it on, within split second there was smoke coming out from the bottom, the left side of m11x. near the fan there. and beeping non stop. i quickly unplugged the power supply, and it still beeps and smokes. i quickly opened the back panel, and then halfway through it stopped. i unplugged the batt, and plug back the power supply, not opening anymore.

LOL what are you talking about at least it lasted for 2 years? if you alienware died after 2 years will you be saying "At least it lasted for 2 years", for the price you paid?
my brother's Acer lasted for more than 6 years and its still working now. My other old HP lasted for 4 years before I had the MOBO replaced. this is a premium product, things like this shouldnt happen, but if it does, dell better have it replaced for free.
but anyways, I am thankful that it is still covered under warranty. sending it to Dell to have it fixed.

anyways, any x51 users here, what are your idle temps and max temps for CPU? mine seems to go around 84 for max temps and 55-60 during idle. my room temperature is always 14-18Celcius range.

my cpu is i7 3770 ivy bridge. yea ppl in forums also say the stock thermal paste is the main overheating issue, but still it is under intel's spec if its around 88celcius. yesterday ran cinebench for only about 3 min, this is what i get.

hmm, isit recommended for newbie like me to change the thermal paste myself? lol, scared will damage the processor or the thermal paste will leak around the proc and cause damange. no experience at all. hehe. so take out the cpu from the socket first, clean, put back, and put thermal paste?
