QUOTE(erszebeth @ Jan 22 2013, 02:27 PM) for gaming purposes, is RAM with 1600 and 1333 mhz speed diff noticeable? and is m17x-r3 compatible with 1600 mhz? currently im using 8gb ddr3 1333 mhz. last question, the 7mm thick SSD can be fit in into the hdd bay of m17x r3..? afraid buy wrong stuff. huhu. thanks.. faster RAM won't do much difference in gaming, only in benchmarks you can see the difference 7mm SSD will fit nicely as you just need to screw the sides to the caddy, I'm also using a 7mm ssd now

No, the interface itself is mini display port. Just the Mac mix it with Thunderbolt.
Similar with Vaio Z2, they mix LightPeak (similar with Thunderbolt) to USB 3.0 port.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for me to ask. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Can you guys recommend me an alienware laptop? I have a budget of 3.5k only! Will be willing to stretch it a bit if it's convincing enough.
Purpose of laptop is for gaming, not heavy just MMO, and the usual office application, but might occasionally do video editing maybe only once in 2-3months.
Preferences: Resolutions of 1600x900
I don't mind used ones.
Thank you

The m14x screen is so glossy which if could pair with a matte screen protector it would be best combo. but too bad I cant find it at malaysia.

I bought mine for $20 includes shipping. I went for the glossy, but there is matte type. the reason i went for clear glossy because i figure out matte might degrade the quality of the screen. like somehow cut down the brightness. and also the matte protector will look weird on shiny alienware the "Alienware" wording will be covered by matte protector, and it will look blurry xD just my personal preference.

I do agreed that it would cut down the brightness a little but it would be far better than having a mirror as your pc screen Would definitely pick the matte one anytime

Received my alienware M14x r2 yesterday. had a white/stuck pixel at bottom right corner, only visible when on bright screen. and the button "V" on keyboard is abit slanted. but works fine. oh well, i guess i have to live with it. but anyways, anyone runing dota 2 max settings at 60 fps? i have to turn off some graphics options in dota 2 to run it around 45-55 fps. when it was on max settings, fps was generally 40-50. during fighting scene fps drop to 30-40. driver is 307 from dell. i updated to 310.90 from nvidia and it appears to be worse. help This post has been edited by Michaelbyz23: Jan 31 2013, 09:48 AM
