could give audio technica's AD300/AD500 a try (ad are open cans, if you prefer closed cans, go for the A series such as A500 or even M [monitoring] series such as M30 or M50)

you could use the sticky thread here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2125556

also, singapore jaben and malaysia jaben pricing wouldn't be too much difference, and that's assuming you won't have issues with customs tax.

my personal recommendation is the AT AD900 smile.gif

- My Rig: Iphone 4 & Sansa Fuze, GoVibe Petite, JDSlabe CmoyBB
- Type of usage: Home & Shop (Can be noisy). 80 Music 20 Vocals
- File format: Flac & Apple Lossless
- Music genre: Jazz & Audiophle Recordings
- Budget: 500
- Headphone/ earphone type: Headphone
- Other requirements (if any): Audio Technica ATH M50 or AD700

Shortlisted the above 2 but dunno which suit me best. Previously using MS1i and bass was adequate for me.
*
between the 2, definitely AD700

however if you want bass, AD700 wont be much. either a closed back A700 that hongrui suggested (i cannot into closed back though), or get a AD900 (which is around RM1k)

Why not the M50s? Tot its got raving reviews too. Is it too bassy? Thx biggrin.gif
*
- closed can are not my thing
- m50 is a monitoriing headphone, monitoring headphones are typically "not musical"

for better understanding, i would suggest to audit both the M50 and A700, or even the AD700 or some poison, AD900 smile.gif

ohai lol. surprised seeing you here.

not very sure on recommendations for on ear's, since i straight went up to full sized cans (and you really have to try those mid range ones, they are really comfy, and yes i sweat a ton/ears get hot easily too) however if you're following strictly on your budget and not willing to compromise-

my recommendation would be the legendary Koss KSC75, or even the porta pro (7x-8x and 15x-16x respectively), and the remainder budget you could opt for a budget/entry level amp or even re-cabling/modding the KSC75.

you could probably check out the sennheiser hd 202 too (around rm130-150, saw a used set for rm100)
can consider looking higher on the hd2xx series, or even the PX2xx series too.

if you can stretch up more, say maybe rm500? other personal recommendation would be:

audio technica WS55, or the beyerdynamic DT231 (i just happen to find a used one on sale in garage sales for rm150 while updating the current market prices for the recommended items http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2324662 )

if you're willing to take the plunge of poison for full sized cans (highly recommended if you're not planning to go mobile with these, which i have assumed from your pc rig setup) consider:

entry levels
- audio technica AD300/500
- audio technica A500x

most, if not all of the above should be available at jaben (ss15 subang) for auditions. best if you can go there and audit most of the recommended models (or even have jaben staff recommendations!) to find out what suits you best smile.gif

About those cans, they cover the ear right? I cannot stand the heat on my ear, esp when i do long gaming.. Thats why i opt to buy a new Headphones. My IEM cable is not long enough to reach to my desktop. i'll check out the hd202  and what u recomend. the Beyerdynamic, u recommend, does it get stuffy inside? I don't mind any design acctualy, just that it does not heat up my ears, im fine with it.

aside from the full sized cans recommendations, they rest are all clip ons/on ears as per your requirement.

honestly though, mid range/higher level headphones are a lot more comfortable than you think. i have listened on my headphone for over a period of 8-10 hours+ (sometimes even falling asleep with them, they are just THAT comfortable tongue.gif) with the occasion "opening up" and wiping off excess sweat as i did mentioned that i sweat a LOT even under air cond room which yea, can cause irritation/hot etc sad.gif

but that goes to say how comfortable better level headphones can be smile.gif

for cable length, if you're getting full sized cans especially the mid range and above, they typically come in 2-3 meters or more cable length which imho, should be more than enough for average users LOL!

for the dt231, PERSONALLY i find the clamping a little bit tight and i personally am not fond on on ears/clip ons (basically your requirement). as they either press the back of my ear too much, or against my ear. id rather have a good circumaural (full sized cans that fully cover your head or practically half your face) that are comfortable which wouldnt cause the so called heat issues as you mentioned. believe me, i am as skeptical as you are back then wink.gif

but of course, i wont know how much of your heat issue is as i do not own your ear, so hopefully you dont take my words against me sweat.gif

hmm. My issues with heat comes from this particular headphone that im using right now. Its a philips shp1900. Thats why im quite skeptical about headphones. Hmm. Dt231 is good? Im gonna purchase the 1 in the link u posted earlier, Hope its gonna fit my requirements lah. Thanks for recommending anyways.  smile.gif

the best advise i can give is that you go audition them first tongue.gif (can also get a feel of the headphone smile.gif )

between dt231 and hd202, i would recommend the dt231 more. however as i mentioned, i didnt like the clamping/on ear sad.gif

went to jaben, Wanted to test dt231, then they no stock. Whatever la, since i dun plan to buy right.. Then i tested teh Gardo sr60, Poison straight away! have to buy it! LOL, Now..do i need to run in my cans like others do here?
*
i see you've finally taken the poison on full sized cans, care to try some audio technica's? AD900 paired with a govibe peak is really highly recommended tongue.gif

or you already bought the grado sr60?

as for run in/burn in, i personally am not a believer of such things, just by simply listening/enjoying your headphone will do. technically anyways that is also running/burning in your headphones, why not enjoying them in the process wink.gif

yeah, bought the sr50 ad.

Audited akg k420, Didnt like because the cable was abit too short for my usage, and it was more like a ' go out headphones', instead of those home usage 1 . Tested the succesor of the audio technica ad300(forgot the model  tongue.gif ) also. Was good, but from what i feel between the gardo s60i was, the vocal is abit more warm compare to it, which i like it.. ( kampung comparison laa... im no audiophile... learning hear and there) And last but not least, tested the dt231. It was a damn good headphones for its price. But still can't beat the gardo s60i  thumbup.gif
out of these 4, i chose the gardo s60i. Listing to michael buble live album now. Damn syok!  thumbup.gif

glad you enjoy your purchase and good to see you going for a full sized instead of a clip on for home desktop rig biggrin.gif
