- My Rig: Roland MicroCube / Any electric guitar amplifier
- Type of usage: Headphone for electric guitar amplifier
- Music genre: Rock, Metal
- Budget: Below RM150
- Headphone/ earphone type: Headphone
- Other requirements (if any): none

I was looking into Sennheiser HD 201, Philips SHP2700, Edifier Coolware Music 800 and Sony MDR-XD200 but could not decide which one to buy. Can anyone please suggest me some headphone models suitable for electric guitar amplifiers. Thank you.  biggrin.gif

For your budget do check out Superlux HD660, if sound quality is what you're looking for.

QUOTE(Ikmal91 @ Nov 28 2011, 01:56 PM)
Really? For rock, alternative and metal the tma-1 is better? How so? I thought m50 sounds clearer? Meh I'll try them both to decide. What about some old songs? Like 80s songs such as one night in bangkok, take on me, and new songs like paradise by coldplay? I've been listening to a few headphones with paradise. Not all of them deliver the perfect sound balance for the song.
*
Do try the Denon AH-D1100 and Beyer DT770 too.

anything better than Solo HD sound and bass quality with same/-+ price?
*
I'm afraid the list is too long hmm.gif It's better to state your preferred genre and sound signature

Which IEM come closet to Fischer Audio Eterna V1 in term of bass quality and amount?
*
Sadly in the same price bracket... none. Hippo VB should sound the closest.

However, if price is not an issue brows.gif

Monster Turbine Pro Gold and Sennheiser IE8 are what you need to look into.

Rig - Xonar DG, supports up to 150ohm
Usage - Mostly games, some movies/series and music as well
File format - For music, mp3
Genre - Music - all types, from jazz to electronic to rap etc. Games - currently, BF3, Witcher2, MW3 soon along with Skyrim. Loads of racing games too like SHIFT and DiRT.
Type - I want big, comfortable circumaurals that won't touch my ears. Must also be closed.

Budget about S$200+. Right now my main choice and almost decided are the DT770Pro/80 which are just slightly over budget. But when I tried these on in Jaben, I liked the sound and especially the comfort.

Anyway, the main point of my questions is, for my budget, are there other headphones suitable for my needs which I should consider?

FYI, my current headphones are the SHP2700, so although I'm no audiophile, pretty much anything else is gonna sound like an upgrade lol.
*
By placing games in front of your usage do you mean it will be mainly used for gaming? Anyway, I think your choice was spot on for the DT770 because it suits your needs very well. The sound stage is quite decent for a closed can and is actually a bass heavy headphones (at least for me). It should perform very well for gaming/movies.

I couldn't think of any other headphones at that budget that suits you better because you are fussy very firm on your requirements laugh.gif Well most importantly, you tried the DT770 80ohm and you like it and the other headphones at that range are either open/have smaller earcups/possess different sound signature/simply doesn't perform as good as the 770 pro.

HD 518 - 85 euro / HD 558 - 116 euro

By this do you mean you are buying in EU or you got the price from the Internet then converted them into RM, thinking that they would be around that price too in Malaysia?

really? how the sound? better than HD555. i actually wanna find this dethroned thang but hard 2 find. so i stick with hd558.. i asking my cousin at germany on9 look for it the cheapest is 116 euro. if getting it on boxing day will be lot cheaper. i read review said the soundstage is better.. any cons to share? TQ~
*
If I still remember my experience with the HD558 correctly, it is quite balanced pair of headphones, neither too bright or too dark. Being the first pair of open headphones I try, the soundstage is great but it doesn't really impress me that enough to make me believe that open headphones have a wider soundstage than closed headphones - which is a consensus in the audiophile world. Don't get me wrong though, it's still one of the better ones I've tried, soundstage wise.

Due to my preference of music being bright/piercing treble, the headphones didn't impress much. It feels like a more laid back headphones, treble is quite tamed and the bass, despite being punchy, would definitely be considered insufficient for basshead. Sound leakage is a problem too as my friend can hear me playing Taylor Swift songs (which I used to find the missing treble) laugh.gif

Can't say I like the headphones, I just feel that it doesn't have a "unique" point that impresses me or the signature just doesn't suit my preference. It is definitely one of the most comfortable pair of headphones I've tried due to the big ear cups and high quality velour pads. The fact that it has a non-intrusive sound and provides a comfortable wearing experience make it a great pair of headphones for long hours usage.

It's still a very good pair of headphones, not to mention that with some easy mod you can turn this into the HD598 nod.gif

- My Rig: iPhone 4/ macbook air 2011 11"/ PC (windows)
- Type of usage: music/ video editing
- File format: mp3/m4a/
- Music genre: pop, rock, most current hits
- Budget: 200 - 500, though i'd prefer to spend on the lesser side, 500 is my max
- Headphone/ earphone type: Headphone (I hate IEM and earbuds)
- Other requirements (if any): Since iphone4 and macbook air both got bluetooth capability, a bluetooth headset would be a bonus at this price range. kinda like the looks of some of these huge headsets (beats for example) but most of them kinda too expensive..

I'm in KL tomorrow, so I wanna shop for it tomorrow, so speedy recommendations are appreciated, thanks.

i read a lot review almost same v ur comment. adios amigo~ i actually preferred HD555 (u know lah), HD558 r suitable & comfort if wearing for long hrs. i'm not bassy guy but with missing treble doesn't sound so pleasant 2 me. my wallet damn tight if go for HD6XX would be better. currently i'm not interested with mod. sound leakage is common issue for open headphones. u got other recommended? i'm just new entry level. i rmb yrs ago my room-mate owned HD555 it really impressed me. he's also ex-lyn user & he sold it to bought 2nd AKG K701.
*
If you like the 555 you should also like the 558 too as it's generally agreed that the 558 is an improved version of the 555. Don't take my "missing treble" seriously because it's rather hard to complement the treble of HD558 for someone who listens to B2(DBA-02). The treble is there but it doesn't give me the "wow" feeling.

It's hard to recommend when you don't state your genre of music, your budget and overall sound signature preference but you will have a lot more choices if you're buying from the EU, audio equipments there are generally cheaper and more accessible.

That is still a long list. In the audiophile world we are all searching for that one pair of headphone that provides the greatest listening experience but that ultimately depends on whether the sound suits you. Analytical? Neutral? Or a colourful and musical sound? Thunderous bass maybe?

Come to think of it, almost all the big brand names have good reviews for their products under the range you mentioned wink.gif And people are only choosing the right sound signature, the musical technicality comes second.

For your budget the RE0 has always been crowned the king but the sound signature is more for analytical listeners. The Sunrise Xcape IE is also up there competing against RE0 with a sound signature that's targeted more to the market of average listeneres.

Otherwise there's Meelectronics CC51 and my Brainwavz M4 that would also perform well for your genre smile.gif

hi guys . im thinking to get a gift for my gf . Since she love music so much . i guess giving her awesome headphone would be great right ?

- Your rig - Mp3
- What type of usage - Music
- File format used in your source - Mp3 i guess 320kbps
- Genre of music you listen to - Pop , rock , techno
- Headphone/ earphone type - on ear / iem also can
- Other requirements - Suitable for girls .

Im thinking fanny wang or dunu trident . and budget would be around this item .

and another question . would be a good idea if i buy these from amazon ? i need to use credit card
*
Girls prefer branded stuff, Fanny Wang in this situation is quite awkward cause average Joe will think that it's some replica of Beats.

Buying from Amazon will cost you a bomb, the shipping will be two-three fold the item price especially when you're buying audio accessories. An exact budget will you

after doing a lil bit of reading, found out BA is  not for a basshead like me,dynamic is the one i should look for.Thinking between the Radius DDM or Atrios M5.Both almost same price, and both bass heavy.I wonder which one should i go for? hmm.gif

or i there any other dynamic drive worth mentioning around that same price? smile.gif
*
Sound wise the DDM has been deemed the most fun sounding earphones for quite some time but talking purely on bass presentation the Atrios will have slight upper hand. I'd feel that the combination of the sounds of Radius DDM make it a more complete package though.

For a basshead you wouldn't have other choices, the Monster Turbines/Pro Gold/Copper/Sennheiser IE8 are also bass oriented but they come with a higher price tag without performing substantially better than the Atrios or DDM.

I gues its the DDM ten(eventhough the design abit...lol,but no biggie. So does the ddm play nice with itouch and sony walkman;meaning izzit mp3 player friendly?or will it cause my battery drain to be higher than normal? hmm.gif
*
24ohm and 32ohm are pretty standard for IEM. Portables are designed to consume less power than normal headphones and for IEM so I think that is the last thing you want to worry about. The bitrate of your mp3 files will matter more when it comes to battery consumption.

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Dec 6 2011, 02:09 PM)
I was wondering why the IE8 is like 3 times more expensive than the Atrio since you say it's not that much of a difference. I thought it would be a lot better lol doh.gif
Barely. The higher you move up the scale the smaller the difference you will notice. There's this law of diminishing return in the audiophile world.

I guess being a Sennheiser flagship it has to be priced prestigiously.

Buying through postage from Jaben is safe I think it's best for you to go try out both IEMs still at Jaben and maybe even ask for more recommendations from them smile.gif RM600 is a lot to spend ya know

Any IEM recommendations that costs no more than RM600(including shipping if bought online)? It needs to be great with hardcore, post rock, indie, metal and electronica songs, via 320kbps MP3 or FLAC.

QUOTE(yimingwuzere @ Dec 6 2011, 10:34 PM)
Thanks for the suggestion. Not a basshead so I think I'll skip the trident you mentioned.

Tried a SE315 last Sunday and liked it. Price is a little out of my range though. I also noticed the UE TF10 at a similar price point at that but I've never auditioned one. How well do these DUNU headphones compare with those two, and also what about price?
*
It's just not logical to not be a basshead looking at all your music genre hmm.gif

For your budget, you can never go wrong with Vsonic GR07, one of the best earphones around with ridiculously high price/performance ratio. One problem is you need to order from SG though.

Hey guys,

Need some help on a pair of headphones:

- My Rig: Desktop
- Type of usage: Movies + Tv Shows (NO GAMING NO MUSIC)
- File format: 720P / 1080P + Ac3 / DTS / Dolby
- Movie genre: Comedy / Action
- Budget: Between RM100 - 200
- Headphone/ earphone type: Headphones
- Other requirements (if any): None. Will be getting an Asus Xonar DX soon to compliment my headphones.
*
For movies and TV shows, you need bass and sound stage. Not sure you can find any good ones cause your budget is quite tight. Try looking into gaming headphones as they usually fulfill the requirements for movie needs too.

Hey guys I'm looking to purchase new earphones......My budget is under RM200.....
I was previously using altec lansing.....(Muzx 136)....and they finally gave out after a year....
I'm currently looking at this model and wondering if there's anyone out there who has used this before and are willing to comment on it.....

Sony MDR-EX310SL

Any advice would be great.....

(Oh, and if it helps, the genre i listen to most is rock, metal, oldies, and I dont listen to any pop, rnb, hip hop, dubstep or whatever they call it all at, so I hate booming bass earphones cuz it cancels out a lot of mid range that are required when listening to guitars.....i need to have deep smooth bass without sacrificing the crisp high end......)
