The TMA-1 does have an aggressive sound signature great for genres you had mentioned.  If a more balanced sound is preferred, do check out the AKG Q460s.

Besides Jaben, you can try out both the M50 and the TMA-1 at Tong Lee Co. as well, ground floor of Low Yat Plaza.

2. M50
3. HD598

TMA and Pro700 i've not heard them.

for me i will prefer DT770pro, superb accuracy on every frequency, nice deep thumping bass without any overflow, great open spacious head imaging and comfortable for long hour listening.

however you can consider Alessandro MS2i headphone, it is magnificent for Rock, alternative due to the classic grado signature.

try grado range 1st. if u want a bit bass then can go for grado sr80i....

yes they are open cans... if u a true rocker.. u have to listen to grado sound signature at least 1 time....

if u like guitar flicks.... the in-your-face sound signature... this is your headphone....

yea, retail of MS2i is 1.2k, i believe it is more expensive then your initial budget, but i urge you should have a try on MS2i + the martini+ amplifier, i bet they both can be a great match up and provide superbly in sounding

Before that I will recommend Senn, but now I prefer Beyer
