This was the output from my thread Superlux VS Shure
SHURE SRH440- better sound clarity, smooth sound, lack of bass.
Superlux HD660- the best of all, superlux model stated, good bass, not so smooth sound, the sound tends to mix the high, and mid. but still better than mixstyle dj headphone that costs rm10.
ok, i thought the result was predictable.

Let me try to describe more music preference. I like bass, and if the bass is BOOM it should sounds BOOM not BUUM or BUU or BOOB.
However, i also like rock music that really need to have better soundstage bcause i want to hear and differentiate all the instruments in it, the guitar, drums, bass, violin and bla bla..
I tried monster beat solo HD and studio. I kinda like the sound, but from reading, some people said can get better cans with lower price range.
So, can anybody recommend me a Monster Beats Sudio-like sound headphone, but of course better. mybe with preamp. Thank you.
Btw price range is below 400. Thank you
*
Below 400 and with quality bass..try Denon AH-D501 or Sennheiser HD4x8 series. Have a look at Beyerdynamic DT231 pro too.

Yes, it's selling for around RM6xx here in Malaysia, it's a steal for that price I will say.

- Other requirements (if any): Prefer balanced, not too bassy and not ear piercing treble. Doesn't require amp to drive. biggrin.gif

I once auditioned Shure SRH240, it's bass is quite strong, not really suit my type. Thinking of Beyer DT231Pro, but it's on ear headphone. Will audition it later at Jaben booth at KLCC.  cool.gif
*
SRH240's bass is strong? seriously? Then i'm sure u will find that DT231Pro has even more bass than SRH240. Shure SRH lines are actually considered as very bass-light headphones lol. They are more focused on clarity and details.

no la, shure 240 is a fail product..sound sucks
*
That's ur personal preference, if u don't like the sound doesn't mean that it sucks. One man's thrash is another man's treasure. I believe it's still one solid and great choice in that price range.

Sifus, please help me choose a budget earphone. Currently considering soundmagic pl11, sonic gear earpump2 and fischer audio omega v2.
*
what do you meant by budget earphone? <RM50? <RM100? <RM200?

Ya lol, I also dunno why. Will see the result after burn-in.
*
Burn-in will give same result too. Don't listen to the one misleading u above. The problem is not on ur headphones. I assume u're running it directly through laptop's 3.5mm jack hole without a USB DAC. Laptop's soundcard has always been very very suckish just so u know. U should invest in an entry-level DAC if u are on tight budget, say GoVibe DAC which is around RM150-200 AFAIK.

dt231pro
Yeap, that's why I kinda sad for not taking Jaben's kind offer.  sweat.gif However, does DAC alone can make it louder? I thought amp only makes it louder, because I got a Wolfson usb DAC, volume sounds more lower.
*
DAC won't make the sound louder, it will replace the original sound card of ur laptop and thus, make the sound cleaner without distortion. Since u have a DAC already, then just get an amp that has volume control like Fiio E11. Should be good enough for ur DT231pro as it is very easy to drive smile.gif

*
Denon D1100, great for the genre of music u stated above. Provided she doesn't want trendy and fancy looking headphones laugh.gif

EDITED : Sorry, didn't see u're looking for on ear/iem only. In that case try Audio Technica ES7, AiAiAi TMA-01, FutureSonic Atrio M5.

Which cheap earphones / headphones below RM50 is best for listening soft music without too many bass? I just bought a faked beats tour earphone for RM30, totally regret as can't listen any song well as stunning bass. omg.
*
Top up abit and get either Superlux HD381F or Hippo Groove. They are much better than the fake beats.

Hi guys, Im looking for a new headphone with mic n vol control, for my Iphone!
- My Rig: iPhone
- Type of usage: music & Calls
- File format: mp3
- Music genre: Very wide, but more on Jazz, hiphop, Metal & instrumental
- Budget: <rm400
- Headphone/ earphone type: earbuds
- Other requirements (if any): Mic & Volume control

I went to Jaben ss15 ytd to try out Jays-Four & a Denon (forgot model, sorry! ) which is both selling at rm340. Do u guys have any other recommendations? currently my heart's sold towards Denon's SQ, but loving the Jay's four's cable and build quality! very classy.

I would love to hear more options from u guys! TQ!
*
If u like Denon's SQ, maybe can slightly top up abit and get the C710, pretty good IEM.

Shure SE215 & Brainwavz B2.
Comparison?

Its better that u list out ur music preference and the genre u listen to, as both IEMs u listed have very different sound signature. One is warm sounding and bassy while another one is bright sounding with alot of clear details.

Seems like the SE215 would be a better option for u in that case.

ATH-M50 or ATH-A700, which one would be a better choice in terms of quality and durability?

Help me out here. Budget around Rm500-700.
*
ATH-M50 is built like a tank. I have seen someone in headfi mentioning that he accidentally dropped his M50 from 2nd floor to 1st floor, and not a single scratch was detected. I owned it before and I assure u the durability of these headphones is really good.
