ATH-M50 or ATH-A700, which one would be a better choice in terms of quality and durability?

Help me out here. Budget around Rm500-700.

both are quite good, it's down to which is more of your liking, both different characteristics

I like both, sadly can only choose one.

My only concern for the A700 are the earpads. They look like the ones which can easily tear/flake/strip off.

While the earpads of the M50 looks some what like the pads on my Roccat Kave now, which i like.

But still ive got to make a decision between the two, unless people can suggest other models within the budget.

ATH-M50 is built like a tank. I have seen someone in headfi mentioning that he accidentally dropped his M50 from 2nd floor to 1st floor, and not a single scratch was detected. I owned it before and I assure u the durability of these headphones is really good.

Good to know. Compare to the A700, which looks quite fragile.

What do you think of the ear pads? Thats my main issue between the two now.

Fellow forumner @expertester was considering between M50 and AD700 but end up with the award winning AiAiAi TMA-1 nod.gif

I haven't tried A700 before, but what do u want to know about the ear pads? Comfort or durability? I believe they are durable enough but comfort wise, they get hot after 30 minutes of usage but I believe it is very normal for pleather pads.

A700 does looks abit fragile, but confort wise, best, AT's A and AD series is the most comfortable headband design I ever used.
