Guys, I've been looking to purchase a pair of earphones for some time now. I was initially looking at the A-Jays Four because of its knot-free cable. But, I just took a listen to my friends Bose IE2 and it sounds simply amazing! I haven't tried the A-Jays Four, so don't know how good it sounds. I also don't mind headphones, but sometimes when traveling on the train, etc its much easier to carry earphones rather than headphones. But I am now abroad, and don't really travel much apart from the weekends, so a headphone might be OK too.

- My Rig: Mac, iPad
- Type of usage: Music
- File format: AAC (I think this is the iTunes standard format).
- Music genre: House, Trance, a bit of Rap and RnB. I listen to LOTS of different kinds of music, but these are the main genres.
- Budget: RM300+ (Try to stick within RM300, but if there is something A LOT better for an extra RM50/RM100 I can consider).
- Headphone/ earphone type: Preferably In-ear but do suggest any around ears too.
- Other requirements (if any): I MAY be getting an iPhone, so if it comes with a mic, then bonus, but that's not so important as I think I will be mainly using it with my Mac.

Thanks.

I've had the Bose IE1. If the IE2 shows a vast improvement in vocal detail and treble then I can say it's worth a buy.....however, Bose did raise the price for IE2 (last time I checked). Therefore, although not bad sounding (rather enjoyable actually for Hard Rock), still does not have a good price:performance ratio.

I assume you like bass as you like the Bose. So maybe have a look at Hippo VB. Jaben has them. It is said to be one of the bass kings of IEM in its price range, and it is also adjustable (by replacing the back plates that has different ports). Not sure of the speed of the bass (I see you like Trance). Also people say it's bright sounding at times (might not be a problem for your genres), so auditioning is highly recommended.

Fischer Audio Eterna v2 might worth to have a look at. Oh, and Shure SE215. I don't know if it still has that cable connection issue at the IEM end (the cable is removable/replaceable) so check them out a bit, and audition.

hi guys,

would like some recommendation for IEM...currently using SoundMagic PL30 which i find is rather adequate for myself. But because its aging already so i was thinking for a change.

My Rig: samsung galaxy s3
- Type of usage: Music and occasional movies on the phone
- File format: mostly 192 kbps mp3 some 320kbps
- Music genre: All (but more towards pop, r&b)
- Budget: RM200...but stretch a bit to 250
- Headphone/ earphone type: IEM
- Other requirements (if any): Clarity with good bass (doesnt need to have mic)..performs something like PL30 or even better...preferably.

Thanks for the suggestions. biggrin.gif

Edit:
i found a few IEMs was wondering if there are any good.
1) AKG K328
2) SoundMagic E10
3) Audio Technica ATH CK313m and CKM300

Fischer Audio Eterna v2?
It has that familiar over-ear wearing style, like the PL30. Never personally tried it but I see very few complaints as to its sound.
