- My Rig: iPhone 4
- Type of usage: music
- File format: mp3/m4a
- Music genre: all kinds ...
- Budget: 200
- Headphone/ earphone type: in-ear
- Other requirements (if any): has decent-looking design xD

give me a list of iems around that price that you would recommend (even better with your own comments on it) and i'll do some research ... just don't know where to start from.

ps. I don't really need emphasis on bass ... clarity would be better for me
*
DUNU Trident is within your budget. however it has abit more bass, but clarity is definitely there. If you can stretch your budget, DUNU Ares would be ideal for you.

try reposting your requirements again but at the price point, not sure if there are any headphones with mic / volume control.

How about Crius?

Added on December 11, 2011, 12:59 pmA151 sounds interesting ... but can anyone tell me what's good about balanced armatures? Can't really picture the difference of a BA with a pair of normal dynamic/bass-heavy/high clarity IEMs ...

Cirus' performance is between that of Trident and Ares. It is not as fun as Trident, vocal performance / clarity is not as good as Ares. One that you can consider is Hades, its transparent so it'll be able to go well with a wide range of music, but you will also be hearing the performance of your media player.

not sure what do you mean by not comparable? dt231 and srh240 is more balanced than M50 to me.

AD700 is open, M50 is closed. for one thing, bass response is very different, even harder to say which is better.

are you gonna be using it on the move? mainly for songs?

do you really need the noise canceling?

QUOTE(chiucheng @ Dec 16 2011, 03:01 PM)
all these models, which can provide best clarity for vocal and instruments???

is it the studio / monitoring models???
*
of the lot recommended, i prefer the DT231p for vocals and instruments. but its best that you go audition them yourself as we all hear differently and have different sonic preferences.

sr80i is aggressive, clarity for guitars and vocals is there, but separation is not as good as DT231pro.

it depends on your preference and what sort of music that you mainly listen to.

what are your preferences?
possibly DUNU Trident, DUNU EX-150. if you can wait, the coming woodie iem.

QUOTE(chiucheng @ Dec 21 2011, 09:32 AM)
omg...i saw many reviews about grado's sr80i are dammed gud! (except plasticky feel and comfort issue) , the sound quality is nowhere else to find at rm400<< !!!

is that true??
*
sound quality is good, but do you like that kind of aggressive and in-your-face kind of signature? there are several comparable headphones at that price range, depending on the kind of signature you like.

i think wad i wan is big soundstage and best clarity as possible....

what d u mean by in the face???  o_o
*
i think we've been through these before, 1-2 pages back? if you want big soundstage, don't bother with grado or alessandro. you can look through the recommendations again, and go audition them to find what suits you the most.

in-your-face means there's practically no soundstage at all. you are "on" the stage itself, instead of being in the audience.

I see, I'll try it first till I'm satisfied then. But the Merlin have 4 BA drivers, and 1 dynamic for the bass. Wonder how good it is for the price.
*
for bass heads, its either mg6pro or JH16. and mg6pro beats merlin hands down.

May be clear and crisp sound quality. No specific genre of music/sound. If there is no all-rounder at least to mostly "acceptable" range, possible?

In short, may be sound more natural? Not the kind that heavily twisted.
*
DUNU Ares if you listen to vocals more. if you want balanced / all rounder - DUNU Hephades.

You tried the Merlin before? How much did you get the MG6Pro for? smile.gif
*
i bought the mg6pro directly from their website, their price there is USD900, to which you need to add another USD70 for return shipping. your cost of impressions and cost of shipping to them is not included also.

merlin i tried the demo unit in singapore. i find the entire sound signature incoherent, the dynamic driver seems to be out of sync with the BAs.

no artwork. due to the vent on the mg6pro.

the mg6pro is not in any way dark. it is actually pretty neutral. it is after all, designed specifically for use on stage as monitors. it's biggest strength is its absolutely perfect tonal reproduction. even when i run full copper iem cables (ALO Copper), it is only just slightly warm.
