I'm new around here and in the audiophile world. I'm looking for a pair of headphones to replace my current MS-1 (too bright for my taste) and complement my Westone UM3x with my Cowon J3. Would definitely love some advice on where to begin my research, so far the Shure SRH840 and Audio-Technica ESW9 has caught my attention. smile.gif

- My Rig: Cowon J3
- Type of usage: Purely for listening to music out of my J3
- File format: 320kbps and the occasional FLAC
- Music genre: Ballads, pop, Jpop, classical, piano
- Budget: RM2000
- Headphone/ earphone type: Headphones
- Other requirements (if any): I prefer forward mids as I really like vocals to be one step ahead of the instruments. Also, I like laidback and warm signatures over bright and cold ones.

Thanks! smile.gif

Just curious y gshoppe85 always recommend Audio-Technica....
Is that Audio-Technica really that good compare with many other include sony?...... becoz i tried the Audio-Technica IEM be4 (price range below RM 100 de la ...tongue.gif...).. and i feel like so so only...hehe... my sony below RM100 better that it.. hehe...just my experience be4 la...

But anyway....will give myself another try to Audio-Technica that u recommended again...hehe... just need to find where can i test that kind of headset only...tongue.gif.....
*
I just recommend based on you preferences (Music + Remote control + Mic for Smartphone + Budget RM300 IEM), with that budget, I could not recommend you model from other brand and not all IEM have mic / remote function that would work on smartphone and I admit that Audio-Technica model below RM100 have average performance and flat sound quality.

Why Audio-Technica? Focus more on pro and consumer audio peripheral + Affordable + Good sound quality.

Since you really like Sony, you might want to check : Sony DR-EX62VP (Bass + Mic / Remote for smartphone)

[+] Aerial7 Tank (superb bass + funky design) - Where to get it? : Online
[+] Audio-Technica ATH-AD300 (clarity + superb comfort) - Where to get it? : Online or Jaben

Currently, without doubt wired headphones produce more superior and good sound quality then wireless headphones bcoz wireless headphones tends to have distortion and lost sound quality when it transmit but technology evolve everyday wireless headphones might catch up the performance of wired headphones in no time.
