hi guys, im looking to buy a windows phone soon, and im wondering what is the availability of samsungs windows phones like the focus or the omnia in KL?..and if possible their prices?

hey everyone, i just got my lumia 710 today and i noticed that my internet connection to my phone is very unstable.

its very on and off but the signal strength is showing full bars as im not very far from my modem..its very hard to download and install apps because of this...

i have no problems on my laptop, brothers laptop and brothers phone and speedtest shows 4.4mbps download and upload which is average since i have a 5mb unifi..

i would try it on 3g but i dont have a data plan so it would destroy my credit

anyone can help??

also, there is a new update out by microsoft but i cant seem to get it, on zune it says my software is up to date...my current software version is 1600.3013.8107.11502 and the new one by nokia is version 1600.3015.8107.12070..

is there a way to get my phone to update??

Although when it does have a GPS signal it will be several hundred meters to a kilometer off my actual location...this goes the same for Nokia maps

I tried it while in the car and while on foot...both same results...'looking for gps'

location services are on....i even tried restarting the phone but it didn't help....

i tried while heading to KL from Kajang in the car this morning and this afteroon just walking around chinatown. im using the Lumia 710, the versions before this i havent really tested since i only got the phone a couple of days ago.

my device will just stay on 'looking for gps' and after about 10 minutes everytime i just gave up and closed it...


hmmm....ok...ill try to get a lock before starting my journey next time, see if that helps


my wifi and data was off as well....

does it happen when you leave your phone alone for awhile?....ive noticed on mine that after a certain period of time of unuse, the live tiles will stop updating and flipping and moving etc.. and itll start up when you start using the device again

hmm... on my lumia 710, i wont even receive push notifications if i am connected to 3G or wifi and i set the screen to never time out while im at home...same even after re-install.. have to constantly open whatsapp to check if i have any new messages then only i will receive messages and the phone will only give vibration or sound notification when i do that and yes i have enabled push notifications...

i presume its the whatsapp software problem...

the album art will only show up if the music was purchased through zune, otherwise it wont show up at all. if you want you can set 1 but just 1 album art as the live tile photo and the background while inside the music player, i cant remember if it will be on the lockscreen as well..

step 1 - set your bing search and relevant settings to US
step 2 - use bing music to listen to the song of the artist you want the picture of
step 3- if the album can be found by bing, then click on it and you will see a track list from the album. just click anyone of them and you should be able to listen to a short version.

then you will see live tile and zune player background photo will be the album art from that album you just listened to.


NOTE- i cant remember how to remove the photo, just that to change it just follow the steps above, but i dont know how to get it back to the original blank background and live tile

trying out windows 8 release preview, and well..im disappointed that i still had to go download and install zune to connect to my phone...i totally expected there to be a built in version of sorts but there isnt..

hopefully things change in the final release

word of advice, dont run out of credit because it will terminate your data subscription and you will have to re subscribe through the *100# menu again..meaning, switch phones

In other news, If you want to use the new camera extras update, your lumia device must be running Tango, which for most of us has not gotten it yet

but thats probably why its only out in the US and China first, so im really hoping that we get the update soon!
