QUOTE(leetplayer @ Aug 7 2008, 06:48 PM) haha...you the only one that noticed yeah...got that from a singaporean friend. they're whip scorpions. asian ones...so they're tiny...like the size of a 10cent coin only... QUOTE(Jamien @ Aug 7 2008, 06:56 PM) Beginner ar, I hear people always reccomend AFS. I triied to get 1 emperor as my beginner but end up let a petshop guy convince me to get a AFS. He said they're not as temperamental as Emperors. @Tag: I like the scorpion compared to 50 cent coin. The color is so gorgeous! that's a B. Jacksoni...one of my faves...

Any remnants of your B. Jax offsprings left Tag? Me and a few friends are interested in a breeding effort by end of this year. Collectively we have a total of 5 scorps belonging to 3 individual keepers.
Rusty thick tails are sweet little critters.

Inbreeding carries a big concern especially among mammals. Among invertebrates, this in my personal view doesn't carry much weight.
Like TAG said, in the wild, inbreeding occurs freely. Especially among those species that live within close proximity with each other and have limited roaming range. Parthenogenic species like the local Dwarf Wood Scorpion (Liocheles australiasae) are known to breed in captivity for generations without the need for even a male. Genes from purely a female parent are passed down to more generations of females, repeating the cycle. All this without much negative impact on the younglings.
However, there are hobbyists known for trying to keep scorpion and tarantula bloodlines from 'possible deterioration' by adding new blood to the brood every F3 or F4. This is thought to be one of the ways to deter defective genes from being passed on further down the line, ultimately resulting in a weakened generation.
There are many schools of thought when it comes to inbreeding. But I personally feel this issue carries little significance, at least in the case of invertebrates.

They're common name is Wood Scorpion. These guys rank among the less striking ones in appearence among dwarf scorpions. But they bear a sweet resemblance to the Flat Rock Scorpion ( Hadogenes sp.). They also are low in venom potency and make an ideal starter scorpion. They are also parthenogenic, which is an added bonus!
