love my saga BLM as well
especially the fog lamp part...it BEAMS literally
*
Also re @coolkwc; @sg999 : IMHO it's much re-assuring & more free of teething probs if one gets an earlier launched model of any car make.

Why?
Cos many warranty claims & defects wld hv been brought to car manufacturer's notice and probably solutions oledi found & probs rectified.

True? whistling.gif

ps. Esp true of local cars cos it now appears customers are doing the Trials & Testing for the car makers! New models are rushed to launch within short periods of preparing a new model!! doh.gif

for saga
not really
as i know for second batch blm, their car will suddenly die off at traffic due to improper tight of the wire to battery terminal
while first batch does not have this issues.
this might catagerised under qc
*
Also @MR_alien refers...

Yup, above cat under more of pre-delivery inspection ppl not doing their job well! sad.gif
My car also delivered with batt terminal loosened!! doh.gif
Luckily I chk-ed most nuts & bolts reachable soon after del. Did so cos a relative's BLM SE faced dead batt few days after del!!

Like me mentioned b4, we all kno car assembly is of thousands of parts & many workers on shifts...juz 1 lousy worker can cause havoc wan! whistling.gif

my FL same as yours... ask SC guy during 1st service... he said 'itu normal'...  sweat.gif
*
Normal? As in where did the water come from? tongue.gif

If my guess is correct, water probably seeped down fr between bonnet top edge and sealing rubber at edge of plastic cover of air vents below wipers.
Still caused by poor seal by that rubber seal...correct? whistling.gif

No obsession, Bro! doh.gif
More of curiosity...spend some idle time? whistling.gif

A matter of here "yesterday"; gone "today" & back agin "tomorrow" thing...
Is item of any purpose other than a decor thingy? Protective of exposed COP parts?
NOT a cheapo part tho...someone quoted like RM300/pc once?? rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Dec 1 2011, 05:01 PM)
i see them open b4 as well
when they open the cap..it looks simple..1 spring and some part and they opened it somemore inside
lots of small parts inside
and the time and work involved to fix it is a lot
lots of time = high labour
lots of part = high maintainance...need to replace alot of part
last time when its be4 20k..i claim like 3-4 times from SC already
they fix...ok..after like 1 week..its back...and it repeats
got once they changed the shoes...discovered that makan 1 side only...lucky its free cuz they have "1" spare shoes..not "1 pair"
until now still makan 1 side
how i know?...when i change my abs...they jacked it up and i didn't know they pulled the handbrake..i got nothin to do thn go spin the wheel
the left wheel can freely spin...the right wheel is locked...thn i go see..the handbrake is on
useless piece of stuff...now i dn't use it already...even on slope its useless
oh..and the handbrake lever is loose2 one...i ask them to tighten it...after awhile..loose back...loose as in can move sideways loose

ps: changing a brake pad for my disc only takes less thn 30 min
asking them to fix that dam drum brake at SC will cost u AT LEAST 2 hours
open it is easy...putting it back is the hard part...every small part has to go back where it belongs...
some need the screwdriver to pull it into place....sometime i see them use hammer...lots of parts
*
So sorry 2hear re yr probs with rear drum brakes. sad.gif

I've had drum brakes of previous rides serviced/repaired as per schedule/necessity. The mechs who worked on them were efficient & fast.
Like Bro coolkwc said...very little also to go wrong. Most times it's the brake cylinder unit/pump which leaks. Juz need 2change nia.

Brake shoes are very lasting.

Feel yr handbrake not working as it shld cos of poor adjustment of cables &/ clearance of shoes fr drum.

Find a good xperienced mech 2solve yr probs.

ps. Proton SC mechs are high turnover feature! Diff ones also might b good only in certain aspects. I've seen cases of other mechs unable to handle probs but if got good rapport among them, then one knowledgeable guy might step in.
Here face-saving plays very important role!! whistling.gif

mine might be makan 1 side
but if i pull it long enough...it still makan...mean the car will stay still but only minor slope(really minor)
mean the right side is holding it ALL
LOL
i just checked back the PM he send me
he said the cylinder is jammed
to fix it...
after that pull 2-3 times ok already but after 3 week...the number increase to 4 thn so on......
and that mean its not permanent..always need to fork out money to fix it...
*
Fr above, feel.... :
1. The bolded part info means it's highly probable that it's an adjustment issue.
2. Need 2adjust cable linkages fr handbrake to back of drum brakes and/or internal clearance between brake shoes & drums. A good mech wld kno how much adjustment needed to equalise braking for both sides.
3. Also mechanical handbrake application does not use the brake cylinders. That's why in case of pedal brake failure, one can still use handbrake to slow down vehicle.
4. If brake cylinders are also jammed, it can tested by spinning wheels off the ground & applying pedal braking.
5. Faulty brake cylinders are better off replaced than serviced cos won't be long b4 prob returns.

Above are my views fr past experiences. Hope of help... tongue.gif

Base on my experience, drum brake failure are due to:

1. No proper bleeding? air trap may cause brake will be uneven.
2. Brake hose clogged?
3. Using cheapo brake pump? always leaks.
4. Wrong assembly of the brake pump kit.
5. Using wrong DOT brake fluid.
*
Above are of good ref to pedal brake probs (hydraulic) with rear drums.
Our Bro's prob is mainly handbrake issues. tongue.gif

1.2.5 is not a problem when i see them fixing it
only left is 3 and 4 only
*
3? Cheapo brake pump(cylinder)? They are Orig equipment, rite?
If so, then it's vendor's poor QC for that batch of parts 4Sagas... sad.gif

4? Wrong assembly...? Reflects on poor mech skills! sad.gif
So, alwaz safer & econ 2replace than service. tongue.gif

However, as previously stated, yrs is NOT hydraulic probs BUT mechanical brake (handbrake) probs ie when in park mode. Correct?

i think its LHD export model
cuz if u see the aircon panel...there are 2 button instead of 1
but i think how they place the fog lamp button with the double signal there...more convenient
*
Noticed more things now... tongue.gif
More adjustments for selection of aircon vents operations...ours only open/close!
Yup, Proton shld hv kept dimmer switch as for BLMs & put Fog Lamp switch as in Export model.

Msians alwaz get lousy bargain wan...Msian car but less features for own ppl!! Also not at cheaper price, too!
We alwaz pay for our own cars 2b exported...4others 2enjoy @ our expense!! doh.gif
