Hi everyone, I want to ask something about the subwoofer because refusing to choose....

1) Hifonics Zeus ZX12D4
- 4 ohm, dvc sub
-500rms , 1000Watts
-2.5 inches voice coils
-sensitivity: 88 db

2) Stellar SD-12Xstream
-2 ohm dvc sub
-400rms, 800Watts
-3 inches voice coils
-sensitivity: 91DB

I'm looking for the sub for SQL, so planning to get 2x 12" woofer that is really can blast or more potential to have louder and handling more power..

Different between this two is:
~ H have 500rms but S only got 400rms.( More rms mean more louder?)
~ H got 2.5" voice coil but S got 3" ( what's the advantage to have bigger voice coil?)
~ S have a bigger magnet size than H, almost a double size.( Does it really depend on magnet size to judge a woofer for how loud does it can make?).
~H is cheaper than S around RM 400 for 2 pieces...

Hope u guys can help me to choose...
I just can audit the stellar sub because the hifonics one is purchase by online from penang, far far away for me to go..
Please give ur opinion or experience for someone who had listen to these two..

Thank you so much...

do u already have an amp? maybe choose sub based on what amp u have...

sound wise cant help u based on specs, depends on many things, amp power, enclosure size, enclosure design, type of songs, etc etc

chicken and egg situation. which should come first? Buy amp first then choose sub or vice versa?

i think use the hifonics sub, parallel-parallel connection gives u 1ohm, amp will feed it 1600W ....each sub gets 800W, just nice for a 500W sub

but then again with the stellar osso can, series-parallel gets u 2ohm, amp feeds 1100W, each sub gets 550W, good enuff for 400W sub, but stellar on paper is louder, as its more sensitive, 91db vs 88 db for hifonics

The common mistake of subwoofer not meeting expectation from icer is buyer liek get a subwoofer at cheap price, high power, many voice coil or not logic voice coil resistant.

Decide how is your setup gonna be use, get the right subwoofer, then choose the amp. subwoofer's sound characteristic are more than an amp, choose the 1 suitable to u, then only move to amp to power it. with proper power, the sub characteristic are not gonna flew.

many BRANDED sub rating very high, but very cheap. So how are the icer think if the installer tell him u need rm2k amp to pair with the rm400 sub for best performance? when the installer sell him a affordable amp, then blame the seller cant utilize the amp....

for example soundstream legendary XSC.6 required 120RMS at least per channel, price at RM399 2 years ago...buyer get it and think it's good deal, then buy a rm500 amp to pair with it and think it should match.....then

guess the result urself
