All must remember that our Govt. has no money and they need a lot of fund to sail thru therefore, anyway to get fund, they will try and oppositions are making it worst by increasing the income of their states Reps...........if I am Ajib Ko, I am surely taking in a lot of painkiller.

So, we shall allow him to naik sedikit to save Malaysia economy as TNB and many others major shareholder are our Govt. GST must also be allow as our revenues are depreciated but expenses are getting greater no thank to the opposition.....and also some TanSri.

Otherwise, the country will become unstable and investors will not invest here.......but!!!! why still prevent the Raw EBN from exporting and why care to where........at least, we can help the Govt. to ease alittle of economy worry.........oil lacking, palm oil no buyer and low price and rubber also affected..........give support to the Govt. esp. on GST issue..........even it may cost us more to buy but at least all Malaysians contribute unlike other taxes which mostly non Malay pay only..........

Blaming who responsible is too late and the most we can help is to ensure that Malaysia is strong. I may sound like pro BN now but this is my opinion as a true Malaysian reaching out to save our beloved country for our future generation........What's your opinion or am I wrong?

QUOTE(philoswiflet @ Dec 29 2013, 02:36 AM)
Would prices of ebn go up to 4,000 range next year?
Yes, if the cow can jumps over the moon.

Maybe if scientists discover that ebn can cure cancer or can enable people to live to 120 years healthily, then ebn will not only go up to 4,000 but even surpassed it to break the old record of 6 to 7K.....

But all this is idle talk... to reach 2K for average grade nests would be a godsend for now. My neck is long like a giraffe waiting for price to rebound.
*
It's already proven that EBN is good for lung and it's related diseases according to Chinese Medicine. For hundreds of year, Chinese have been taking EBN for asthma and for the health of the lungs and even Malay nowadays also buy from me EBN for their children suffering from Asthma and according to them. EBN do prevent an asthmatic attack and so that's the proof you want.

Since EBN is good for lung illness and it surely also prevented bird flu attack; maybe if there is another outbreak of bird flu, we, the keepers of swiftlets shall be safe from the bird flu as we took a lot of EBn due to the low price and include those believers in taking ebn for health. AMEN Hopefully, the authorities will not just take an easy way out and blame it on our swiftlets as our swiftlets are till today flu free and I believe it must be because that they are immune to bird flu.....

So, what you all waiting for; stock pile EBN cos it may go up to RM10K per kg soon if someone really do a research and find out that EBN really can protect human from bird flu....What a wonderful dream!!!!!!!!

Cure cancer, I don't think so as EBN promote growth and cancer is a growth unless researcher can prove that EBN promote only healthy cells..........Also, on long life, doubtful idea as Emperors in China all take EBN for health and none lived to a hundred hahahaa..maybe due to too many wives and just imagine serving 999 concubines, how to live long.

Above are just my layman opinion only but as for Rm2K, someone told me that EBN was sold at Rm2K recently; wonder anyone here knew about it.

EBN raw price differ a lot like quality, sizes, colour and feathers..........in raw EBN at China.

What I encounter before were:
1. HK buyers won't want to talk to you unless they know you as they presume that you are wasting their time.
2. Guangzhou mostly sold Indo EBN or low grade type of EBN in complexes and you need to go to Shops selling quality EBN to know how high EBN may go.
3.Government disallow of giving gifts to government servants badly hit the EBN price and demand as all understand.
4. Big and rich consumers in don't buy processed EBN as they want to see what they are buying with alittle feathers and dirt in them.
5. That's why I always said our Government should allow raw EBN to China as the big users are those who buy our Malaysia good EBN and not those low end users of Guangzhou area. Even before the crisis, our unprocessed EBN were not sold in cheap complexes as I did mentioned in this forum.

What I know maybe outdated as I now seldom venture to China as I no longer have business dealing there and so, I cannot confirm on the price and situation in China today.

One thing that I know is that EBN exported in wet condition and at least more than 20% water as the EBN exported smell like salted fishes and feel like rubber after the more than 7 days from factory and later to clear custom. No wonder Chinese authorities complain of high PPM.

I don't read newspaper for nearly few years but a friend told me that the good news is that our processed nests can be exported to ChinA ALREADY nnnnnn the minister told that only Malaysia can export EBN and not other countries........and that the 8 companies must not allow their companies to help other countries to use Malaysia to export or face the ban from China....hahahaaaaa

Isn't that a laughing news! After more than 2 years that all countries cannot export EBN to China and what are the Chinese taking.....all fake EBN????

Malaysia only produce about 10% of the world EBN and the minister told us that we are the only country to be able to export to China so our EBN must be at least Rm10K per Kg as how to satisfy the whole of China's EBN consumers even if 50% of EBN consumers stop taking EBN????

Can someone here put some senses in what I heard or is it a lie?
My small brain don't tally what I heard and don't understand why our raw EBN still cannot be exported to China as Malaysia is Flu free country if the minister has said or is he a liar or am I having hearing problem? I think I need to see a specialist of the ENT or maybe a brain one....as I cannot compute.

I don't care much bit if they give me Rm5K/Kg for my EBN and I shall keep my big mouth shut!!!!!!

QUOTE(philoswiflet @ Jan 10 2014, 01:56 AM)
Penang and Malacca are special situation in view of the UNESCO status but try to force closure of farms in heavily established towns and things might gets "interesting". The government guidelines for towns should be the way forward with farms (no new farms with cut off year) in town areas that follow them be allow to operate as the best way forward.
*
Many years ago, at the Seremban workshop, it was told that no more new BHs can be build in town but Authorities didn't enforce it and when I advice fellow farmers not to build anymore at town; I got backlash hard telling me that why can't they build and if disallow all must go.........

So, you see, it so difficult to be fair and honest as many just don't listen and they rather all die together and they don't appreciated your advice as the advice was for the good of all @ town. The saying of "Since we have wet our hair and have no choice so we advised other not to jump into the water not out of jealousy, never seem to enter into their ears".

I even suggested to the MPK to move the town to a new area and leave the old town to the birds as nearly half of the old blocks are doing BH and most owners will be willing to buy into the new township free of BH to support the MPK if they so decide as old timers we were already making good profit with Rm5.5K/Kg then.......THEN ALL WILL BE WELL.

That's all a wish only as we all expected the coming problem sooner or later if more and more invested in BH @ towns and also not cooperative as unhappiness and offending those not doing BHs will surface.

Recently, I have Malay Buyer coming to buy and quote Rm160-170 for AB but they paid Rm155 for my nests, I guess OK price for my big but dirty nests for today uncertain climate.

Last month was better as buyers did offer more than Rm170....and most people are telling that the price has increased now but not visible yet.....and the fact still the same as most buyers are not from the 8 approved companies as these companies have their own EBN to process unless you sell low like RM130 or so.

Unless the Govt. allow export of raw EBN, I see no white lining in the cloud above. Maybe, the Horse can kick some B*** to RIP shall we to have better sleep.

Maybe, CYN can bring me Luck@Genting and with the little money I get selling my EBN to have a "Show Hand" there and may increase my EBN sales by a few times. So, remember to Yam Seng to this coming Year of the Golden Horse. Better make few dishes out of EBN and not KK like most facebooks posted, this way, we all shall at least eat like an Emperor, an Emperor without much cash but afford to have EBN for BF, Lunch and Dinner, too.

Also, do spare Ajib Kor in the year of the Horse and hope that he can spend more times to solve our problems....otherwise he shall be wasting time trying to defend himself and no time to care for the raayat and the country.

Like they say......buy Toto, get toto (many many). If I ever forget to wish all here when the CNY comes........I wish you all "Gong Xi Fa Cai" now.

Funny observation that I see is that even now, buyers are still here buying EBN and surely these purchases are not for CNY as there are no enough time to clean for CNY.

So, there must be buyers @ China seeking EBN and not for CNY but maybe that there are shortage of EBN in China at this moment. But as usual, every time the buyer came, someone sell cheaply and down goes the EBN price. I hate to introduce buyers to other BH owners cos they don't listen and will just sell off even buyers offer very low price and this will affect my bargaining power that next time that buyers come around. Learn to say NO to buyers that pay below the reasonable price and all will be well and we all be happy and full.

Forget the 8 processing companies as I have not seen them in these few months and the latest buyer was today, a Malay lady buyer so it seem that Malay also find that buying EBN make money so beware, you Chinaman buyers........you must pay reasonable price otherwise, we sell to whoever pay higher.

Also, demand for big, white and less feathers may fetch more than Rm2K at present......above are just my observation and suggestions and of course, it's your EBN and you can do what you want with it lah........then, I apologies if it's hurt you with what I said in the above cos I mean you well and to make more this coming year of the Horse.

Most BHs are presently having small and uncompleted nests or nothing at all and the climate is the problem as this year, North wind is blowing very strongly and friends here weaken by the long spell of bad EBN price must to care of their health. Such cold wind can get you sick and also swiftlets cannot stand coldness.

Yesterday, one of my friends told me that the Newspaper said that the EBN has risen to RM2K and all I can replied was Bullshit!!!!
Other may not have EBN to sell but I do and the price wasn't that good even with many buyers coming.

One advice that I can give to new BHs having less than 5K EBN are to group up to sell as one as buyers do offer better price to large quantity of EBN and tend to pick out those small sellers to kill. I heard one here even sold his 2Kgs @ Rm1.3K/Kg............and I silently cursed him KS as that will affect my bargaining power with this buyer the next time he comes around to buy. I refer the buyer to him and even told him that I sold for Rm1550!!!

Everyone telling me that the price is up but where the proof as I only get buyers calling and told me that he can offer Rm17 to Rm18 but when he's here, he gave plenty excuses like nest not white lah and little feathers and all kind of excuses and only offer up to Rm1550.

Like this, every time you encounter a buyer is like going into a battle and see who is stronger and win the game......

Like I said......there is shortage of EBN in the market as this year, the North wind is blowing STRONG and long so there isn't much EBN in the market if this prolong. Swiftlets stay away from the BHs for it too cold to remain in the area and migrate to elsewhere but will return soon after the North wind ends.

Everywhere is affected and so, if you are the lucky ones having EBN, then you may want to try to keep them after the CNY and maybe, hit the jack box as most BHs having half or incomplete EBN but don't keep too long for another 2 months, then all BHs will start to produce EBN for the market.

I maybe wrong as I am no Scientist but a old BH owner will little experience to share.

QUOTE(tuckfook @ Jan 28 2014, 11:57 AM)
Hmmm, WW I wish it were true.  Even as  I write, Indonesians are selling EBN at prices lower than ours. The Indonesians are in Hongkong peddling their EBN and they have tonnes more than us and stockpiled much more than we can imagine.

There can be no conceivable shortage in the near future, unless there is a shelf life and expiry date on EBN.

The only thing that is helping us is that HK buyers are suspicious of the cheaper EBN from Indon. We can only get better pricing when we convince the HK buyer that ours do not have ANY additives.
*
You are quite right but then what I mean is that our EBN are of different grade that that of Indo and even non professional buyer like me once told a outlet @ HK of a batch of EBN that was poured on the floor wasn't that of Malaysia but of the Indo type meaning that our EBN are most of higher grade than that or Indo and accepted quality by their standard. Remember that Malaysia produce only 10% of the world EBN. Also, Indo EBN has always been selling much lower than our EBN all the time and even our EBN prices differ from region to region by afew hundreds before. Recalling my memory, once I sold my EBN for Rm5k and I introduce my buyer to Selangor seller and my buyer told me that he would only offer RM4200 for Selangor EBN.

And since China only allow Malaysian EBN into the country and also only processed EBN legally then other producing countries cannot legally export their EBN to China if I am right, my friend. Once processed, no one can really tell the different between the country of origin and that's why I always said that the best way for China is to allow unprocessed EBN into China to process and only thru this way, China can control the quality of EBN otherwise, no one can tell the origin of EBN when processed and worst if chemical or magic been used on the EBN..

Indo EBN may have problem as in natural form, these EBN look typical Indo mostly and most buyers know and I think that the authorities in China also already learn how to distinguish the origin of EBN in natural form.

Worst now that China is having bird flu and checking must be more severe and maybe 100% screening like one of my friend took afew kilo of processed EBN into China got stop by the custom recently. The custom gave him a paper to collect within 7 days on returning home otherwise the EBN will be confiscated for failing to collect the EBN. During his exit from china, he was directed here and there and at the last resort, told my friend to get on to the plane and that they will give the EBN to him on the plane........how stupid he must be to believe the custom men cos the EBN already gone from the custom dept.

Well, the price of EBN in ringgit has gone up but actually remain the same as RM depreciated badly and so what we are getting now is almost the same so don't you sell lower. if you sell @ price like before, then EBN price is surely depreciated.

A friendly reminder.........

Sad but true, that many are selling BHs and not buying .
Bad are many have nests but no real buyers.
Worst are once priceless Birdnests are now really of less price.

One Question is that can Malaysian own land in Thailand AND Cambodia (country translate to Chinese "no money")...legally.

I wonder if there are those edible nest swiftlets in Cambodia? I went to the country last year and found that there are only WATs and only WATS..........which end the holiday as What, what and what only. Maybe, it's time to provide tourists other attractions of man made to attract tourism even foods are bad.

It should be a good place to invest as it cheap and labour cost is also cheap. Maybe, if anyone here wanting to try luck may want to try it at Cambodia but water maybe a serious problem there as I saw no mountain and flat dusky land.

Get a PR or marry a local and start growing greens there and maybe Cambodia may one day be a great place for swiftlets as Malaysia is no longer a good place to breed swiftlets with the present situation. Anyone here have bright idea.

QUOTE(philoswiflet @ Feb 23 2014, 06:40 PM)
Just want to warn swiftlet farmers not to be influence into buying expensive liquid from vendors that promise to increase birds and nests rapidly. I had bought different types in the past but cannot really say they are useless as my farm houses then were badly design then; now I have hundreds of nests but the problem is the population is stagnant and last year, I decided to try again and see it can solve my problem... after using them for a period last year; I already think they are no good... and I had been spraying them on about half of the plank areas and see no effect at all... I still have a little bit of the expensive liquid and will use them until they were gone... probably good for two more sessions. So I just want to warn those who are thinking of trying them not to fall into their sweet promises... they do not work and are very expensive... they are the snake oil pedlars of the swiftlet farming industry. The money I spend for this final experiment could have got me a humidifier and an amp instead! Hope others can learned from my costly mistakes.
*
I concurred with you that the perfume or whatever you call them are all over price as they are not good at all. Even fresh shit beat them all, I guess unless they really come out with something that really work instead like you said "selling snake oil".

Let me just brief here that even when the product was produce was good, the shelf life of it isn't as these concern with smell and after afew months, it no longer work. There was no shelf life on the label at all.
Secondly, if you make your own magic portion with ammonia from fresh shit, it may work well as I have tried many times before.

One thing for certain is that IT'S OVERPRICE by many times and most of these don't work. Hope that with the present low price of EBN, producers will lower their price and best with assurance that it will work with buy back option. I have one container of this Snake Oil left long ago because one guy refused to pay but it was he who asked me to buy for him from this Snake oil seller, famous HK. I never use other Snake Oil and only produce my own Shit Oil that smell so bad that house flies would follow me for the rest of the day...hahahaha.

uncle ww, can you give some comment on the EM??
Thanks.
*
so sorry that I can't comment too much on it as one once told me that why do I need to cause problem to people trying to sell their products.

Read the comments here and there are many using it here and maybe they want to have a say. All the time, I just help to buy for friends who want them and feedback wasn't good at all.

So decide it with your own wisdom and don't listen to Salesman talk........like my wife once bought a ink remover liquid after seeing it on TV and it ended with a discoloured dress. What you read or hear or see may not be the truth.

okay uncle ww, I also understand.

What I concern is the way to prevent mold on wood plank, because my is new bh, planing to wash the ceiling, wall including plank after the construction completed.

thank you.
*
I must congratulate you and admire you for your courage to build BH at the time many are selling their Bhs on "OFFER". Try to read V1 and up and most of your new Qs are answered as quoted by TF "I would have thought that these discussion would have died by now"

Just last month, one of my friends rented out his building as store and the building had over 600 nests. When the time that so many given up hope and you came along and build a new BH, hurray to your confidence in the industry. You have given many here HOPE.....that good time maybe here again.

But, but If you have asked me then, I would have advice you to buy one instead of building one yourself as you shall start from Zero and BH now are below cost price with many having plenty FOC nests..

You should have wash the ceiling, let it dry before putting up the planks but since now that you have done, the planks will be wet if you do wash the ceiling and then problem of well ventilation for the planks should be a problem and that the planks may bend during drying. Big problem, I rather leave it at it is but maybe someone here maybe able to help you in this difficult situation.

Best of luck, my friend.
