Many commercial products out there claimed their products can effectively do this and that. Most of them aroma based. Really effective or not you just give it a try and let us know  tongue.gif

Ha Ha LOL are there still people buying aroma? Snake oil. I guess drowning people will clutch at straws.

Best aroma is lots of bird shit......WET bird shit.

Best sound track for attracting birds? There isn't one. Some sounds work well in one district but cannot call birds in another. Try, test, to find a suitable sound. Beware of sound peddlers that add duress sound somewhere in the track. It'll work well to attract birds for the wrong reason.

Don't be fooled, there are many quacks around.

Hi sifu sekalian,

Was tempted to purchase the swiftlet sound from FB.
Some quoted RM150 to RM 200 per song.
Is there any difference from the one at Youtube and them apart from the file size and quality?
If does, any sifu can recommend good song?
Newbie here...

Many swiftlet 'farmers' make money from selling 'miracle' sounds and not from their nests. Not all sounds work, some work better than others and some work for a short while only. A sound that works for your neighbour might not work for you.

Where is your location, maybe some locals ranchers can help.

Are there any criterias that define a good "sound" for the swiftlets? I am currently on a trial and error phase to find out the best.
*
Simple criteria. The sound attracts birds. It should attract passing birds and entice them to enter the new birdhouse to explore and hopefully stay.

Many sounds attract birds. Some more so than others. eg a sound of birds under duress will darken the sky with them as they are curious to see what is causing the duress. This sound will not entice birds to stay in your farm.

Good sounds attractive to these birds are usually mating sounds. This brings the young birds to discover the new nesting site and hopefully will be happy to stay.

Hi guys,

I have a 1yr+ BH around 200+ nest; now that the population is gradually increasing..
i am experiencing Kutu problem, and my nest are mostly lumut & yellow.
Below are the steps ive tried:
-clean birdshit every 2 weeks,
-spray EM(use the EMRO brand),
-spray Fendona on walls & floor.

Anything else i can do to help with the problem?
i see baby birds blood suck by kutu very heartpain

Wow been a long time since I last looked here.

Spray Fendona all over including the nesting planks, tweeters, and unharvested nests. This will kill all the mites as well as when the mite eggs hatch. If you don't do this the mites will continue to breed.

Fendona won't kill any of the birds, even the babies in the nests. The level of toxicity is very low for humans and practically none after the nests are processed. That's why is approved for use in kitchens, restaurants and inside homes for bedding etc.
