Hi guys, I'm new to this Skyrim family, just ordered one and waiting for it to ship to my house.

after reading all the bug reports in the latest patch, what should I do soon after i installing the game? should i let the game to update like normal or disable the steam patch update? how?

p/s: my pc spec is only: Dual CPU E2200 2.20GHz, 3.5GB Ram, HD5670 1GB DDR3 and windows XP. Is it alright to play this game?

Skyrim is my 1st game in Elder Scrolls series, have not played Oblivion before.
Didn't really realize that most quests are simply about killing until u mentioned about it, but it is memang what this game is about, no?
I still find it fun and addictive biggrin.gif

Every single time I open Steam it will stuck at "Connecting Steam account [accountname]".

omg this is so effing frustrating and the only solution I know is by deleting the .blob file, then it will make my steam to re-update again. This solution actually works but it takes up to 30 minutes for me to completely update the Steam.

Right now because i do not want to waste half hour waiting for the update every single time i open Steam to play Skyrim, so i always start my steam in offline mode. (in offline mode it won't stuck at the connecting box)

Has any of u come across the same problem? any solution for this?

if u wanna create uber equipment, also focus on potions. wink.gif

yep, using these steps:

Simple Step by Step Directions
1. Once you have max perks and 100 in each skill...
2. Enchant fortify alchemy helm, ring, gloves + necklace. The buff should be +25 on each for + 100 total.
3. Put on the gear and make 4 fortify enchant potions (+ 27ish?)
4. Use those potions to make better fortify alchemy gear. Note... You have to be quick because you only have 30 seconds per potion.
5. Use that gear to make better fortify enchanting potions...
6. Keep repeating 4 - 5 until you can make fortify alchemy + 29 on each piece (116 total)
7. Use 4 +32 enchanting pots to create fortify smithing rings, neck, gloves and chest.
8. Make some fortify smithing potions (+130% with your alchemy gear)
9. Craft daedric armor, shield and weapon.
10. Put on your smithing gear, drink the potion (130 + 116 = +246% to smithing), then improve your weapons.
11. Make about 10 enchanting potions (+32)
12. Enchant a ring gloves and neck with fortify heavy armor and fortify one handed. I believe the number was 29 for armor 47% for weapon? Not in front of computer.
13. Enchant health / heavy armor to chest.
14. Enchant one handed / stamina to boots.
15. Enchant helm with whatever you want... (archery... Magic?)

for mages, u can get 25% magicka cost reduction for spells from a school on each piece of item, enchant them on 4 pieces of armor (helm, chest, ring, necklace) and u can cast spells from that school for free. after having Extra Effect (lvl 100 enchanting), u can actually cast spells from 2 schools with 0 magicka

being a pure mage it is hard to bring followers around. my AoE skills (ice storm, fire ball) will always kill them. especially now when my destruction casting cost is 0, i spam them like mad and found my illia dying on the ground doh.gif

just a quick tip, if somehow u feel really lazy to travel to other merchant to sell off ur stuffs because the merchant right in front of u has already run out of cash, or u really want the merchant to restock immediately cos u're looking for certain ingredient urgently, u can try:

1. save game (F5 for quick save)
2. attack the merchant (until he reacts by defending himself, or dies)
3. load game (F9 for quick load)

tah daa.. now the merchant is restocked with new items/gold.

this looks like a glitch thou. so don't use it if u don't wanna spoil the fun biggrin.gif

quite high but that's not the highest you can obtain. there is still some little room for improvement if you wish to go for perfection

i shouldn't have raise my smithing perk tree through the left hand side (light armor pathway). because now i'm using dragonscale light armor but i can't forge daedric weapon because i can't add 'daedric smithing' perk. the only way is to add the smithing perk tree through right hand side all over again which is a huge waste of perk points sigh. so now the best weapon i can use is just glass weapon.
the other way is by atronach forge but require lvl90 conjuration for sigil stone.

any other way?

Skyrim sort of deserve all the recognition, as it does attempt to do something that most games just shy away. A large open world game with barely any restrictions is rare these days and Skyrim manage to pull it off beautifully. At the same time, there are a few flaws like inconsistent production values or bugs in the game.

At the same time, despite i enjoyed Skyrim, it does feel a bit overrated as everyone on the internets is praising it like a god sent game.

I am contradicting myself btw. doh.gif
*
I second that! smile.gif It is indeed a good game but at the same time its rating is being a little bit exaggerated.

thanks!!

This site tells you all the locations.
Besides looting u can also purchase from alchemy store.
Here is a way (sort of like a glitch) to force the shopkeeper to restock:

guys is there any use for jewels? ruby , sapphire , diamond etc etc.. or just sell to npc?
*
You use them to forge jewelry.
Gold/Silver Ingot + Ruby/Diamond/Sapphire etc = Ring
Gold/Silver Ingot + Flawless Ruby/Sapphire etc = Necklace

QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Dec 29 2011, 01:28 PM)
When I first played Skyrim, I was a bit disappointed. Gave me headache in first person mode, then I felt the scenery was too grayish and the story wasn't interesting. Also the combat felt weird for an FPS, and I didn't like the menu interface, sometimes I click on an item, but it quits the menu instead.

So I almost uninstalled Skyrim.

But after persevering a little more, the game grew on me. To solve my headache issue I use 3rd-person mode now. Also to make combat easier I just invested most my points in Twin-Hand/Heavy Armor. Now I've gone to more towns and areas, the game doesn't seem so gray, and the side quests are actually quite interesting (like the Saadia and Kematu one). Last problem the menu interface I can't solve, but I've learned to tolerate it.
*
I have the that problem too, when mouseclicking the menu sometimes it will just quit the whole menu. End up now I am used to navigate through the whole menu using keyboard (or sometimes just mouseover the item, then press E to choose instead of mouse click).

yea this game does get better the more u play.

wahh u guys max enchanting and smithing like so easy.. any tips ? rite now im at 6X for both. i make iron daggers and then enchant them and sell back to npc
*
it is actually quite easy and doesn't really take too much time, but u need to collect as many filled soul gem as possible before hand:

1. Buy all iron ore/ingot, leather or leather strip (1 leather = 4 leather strip) from blacksmith
2. Forge everything into iron dagger (require only 1 iron ingot and 1 leather strip) - this part is really fun when u keep spamming E (choose) and Y (yes). U can see ur smithing level bar keep on raising.
3. Sell half of them (or keep all if u wan, but normally u will end up having extras)
4. Now move to enchant table and start enchant all dagger with absorb health (can be sold for highest price), just use all ur soul gems, no need kedekut. keep only grand/black soul gem.
5. Sell everything, get back ur money. then repeat.

p/s: iron ingot is really easy to find, u will have little problem with soul gems thou, u need to travel around the world and buy from court wizards (1 in every city) and also from winterhold college mages. If u find urself having too many empty soul gems, make a weapon with soul trap ability and go kill some wild animals/skeletons. btw, so far i only find out Mammoth can fill in the grand soul gem. it is also better if u do The Black Star quest to get an Azura Star/Black Star 1st.

sup all..
im playing as sneaking archer and joined assassin db,
which's the best enchantment for my bow and between dragon-glass-deadric which is give the best..
*
For sure you will need to be wearing light armor, and the best light armor in game is Dragon Light Armor (forge using dragon scale)

Actually when adding smithing perk, i suggest u to choose right-side path (heavy armor path) and make ur way to Dragon Smithing.
The reason is that, the best light armor is Dragon, but the best weapon is Daedric, and Daedric belongs to heavy armor.
So if you add ur perks through left-side path (light armor path), and even after you reach Dragon Smithing (require 100 in smithing), the best weapon u can forge is only Glass Weapon, as there is no Dragon weapon. By damage ranking, Daedric>Ebony>Glass - Glass weapon is 2 tier lower than Daedric. U might think since Daedric smithing is only beside Dragon Smithing perk, and u can still add Daedric after Dragon, then u're wrong. The only way is to add perk in Daedric smthing is to add perks again from bottom through right side until u reach Daedric (waste another 5 skill points which is alot).

Also, even if u use those daedric/ebony weapon u loot from chest, they will still be far lousier than the glass weapon u forge urself, as u can't improve daedric/ebony weapon as good as ur glass weapon due to not having the perks. (This can be confirmed here)

As for the enchantment for your bow, just pick Fire Dmg to max out the damage while sneak shooting others. For me, after I reach 100 in enchanting and obtain "Extra Effect", I enchant my bow with Fire + Frost dmg and I noticed the dmg dealt is really much higher.
