my review of the game so far
i'm at level 16 - first Elder Scrolls game in the series that I've played. From 15 onwards it got me hooked. It's a whole new experience, very surreal environment and always something there to keep me interested. Just tons and tons of quests to do! difficulty can be set lower in game if u cant kill something, playing it at normal so far find it fun and achievable still (hardest quest so far was the Thief sidequest, need to kill an entire island of bandits). Just joined the thief guild and have been stealing things and selling them at Riften (as i find this easiest way to make money). A lot of shortcuts, hidden paths, interactive levers etc to pull and interact with to make the game even easier to bypass certain quests. Dragons are interesting NPCs that drops nice loots (get to learn Shouts after touching stone + dragon soul). You being the lead character in the game is the last Dragonborn (or Dovankiin). The game has some catchy dragon language too: ![]() Phonetic Translation DOVahKiiN DOVahKiiN NaaL OK ZIN LOS VahRiiN Wah DeiN VOKUL MahFAERaaK ahST VaaL ahRK FIN NOROK PaaL GRaaN FOD NUST HON ZINDRO ZaaN DOVahKiiN Fah HIN KOGaaN MU DRaaL ahRK FIN KEL LOST PRODah DO VED ViiNG KO FIN KRah TOL FOD ZeyMah WIN KeiN MeyZ FUNDeiN ALDUIN FeyN DO JUN KRUZiiK VOKUN STaaDNAU VOTH aaN BahLOK Wah DiiVON FIN LeiN English Translation Dragonborn Dragonborn By his honor is sworn To keep evil forever at bay And the fiercest foes rout When they hear triumph’s shout Dragonborn for your blessing we pray And the scrolls have foretold Of black wings in the cold That when brothers wage war come unfurled Alduin, bane of kings Ancient shadow unbound With a hunger to swallow the world (quote: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_language) I would say this game is worth the money. Tons of hours of gameplay and re-playability. There are more than 10 types of Character class to build and test on (not including the fact that you can even transform to a Werewolf or Vampire if you wish to), as well as skills that you could major on (many branches of skills such as spell classes, one handed weapon, heavy armor, light armor, thief, alchemy, blacksmith etc) Nice game indeed worth the try! |

QUOTE(cracksys @ Jan 9 2012, 12:15 PM) ohhh, you haven't start to grind to achieve godlike smithing yet. yeah lvl 16 taking my own sweet time (working dude here).. that's where the fun started. /sarcasm took me like 1 mth to reach where I am... coz was still getting use to the controls, exploring the map and such. Best achievement so far is getting a horse, a house, married, then joining the thief's guild... that itself also took quite alot of time.. (p.s. Ysolda is a pretty chick waiting for me in Breezehome.. |

QUOTE(SpikeTwo @ Jan 9 2012, 06:34 PM) mine 100 smithing and 100 enchanting. i still find the game fun. there are some glitches here and there. Last night exploited one, up speech skill till 100 it is not a glitch...it is hardwork. follow the steps: http://www.gamefront.com/skyrim-easy-100-s...h-skill-glitch/ » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « (be warn the game will be much tougher as you'll end up progress 5-6 levels ahead with difficulty increasing as well. Had to reduce my difficulty later during combat as it suddenly became very much more tougher) QUOTE(darkhorse_86 @ Jan 9 2012, 08:59 PM) Gave Heroes VI a break eh Yeah Heroes VI sucks.. buy it only during offer too many changes made the game lame For Soul Gems » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And I find the Temple of Mara Quest very heartwarming. Hmm will try going to Winterhold soon to steal gems ... addicted to Soul Gems' enhancements This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 10 2012, 04:31 PM |

sleeping at 2AM now bcoz of this game.. -__-||
just learned 2 more shouts - fire and clear skies (after visiting sky temple, grey beards and Paarthurnax.) So hard to quit earlier and go sleep... f***in addictive sh** I have 30k gold now planning to get another house.. wanna try getting the Riften Honeyside house - hope it's unlock by now as I've done a few quests for the Jarl there. (it's the only house that has a garden there - since i love some of the cooking items those livestocks and plants will come into handy) (30k gold thanks to 100 speech, extra pockets from pickpocketing -100 weight more, and ability to sell stolen goods anywhere.) lvl 30 now.. so fast @_@ This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 12 2012, 02:06 AM |

QUOTE(air @ Jan 12 2012, 09:26 AM) Riften that one comfy or not? I bought the breeze home so far, really feel like home when coming back~~ yeah i have breezehome too (fully upgraded) - but really sucks lor no Enchanter.. always use one leh QUOTE(kianweic @ Jan 12 2012, 09:42 AM) taken from: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses![]() taken from: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Vlindrel_Hall QUOTE A large home in Markarth consisting of Dwemer architecture. It is located across town from the blacksmith shop and smelter, however the distance traveled to reach them is roughly the same as the trip from Breezehome to Dragonsreach. sounds good... but no Garden wor... wanna cook or make potions not as easy as Riften's Honeyside ... Only Riften's one has a garden amongst all of Skyrim houses.. hmm. This means it is more efficient than Breezehome in terms of full service crafting when over-encumbered. In order to enchant the player must exit Breezehome (1 transition), head to Dragonsreach (roughly the same distance as reaching Markarth's blacksmith), then enter (2 transitions) and walk up the steps to the enchanting table. In Markarth the player has both an alchemy table and enchanting table in the home and must only transition once, from inside the house to its exterior and then proceed to the smithing amenities. Furthermore, once the Thieves Guild quest Silver Lining has been completed the fence in Markarth is a close neighbor to the home. This allows stolen goods to easily be sold, whereas the Fence in Whiterun is located outside of the city entirely and the fence in Riften (Honeyside) is located through several more transitions than required in Markarth. In terms of selling stolen goods and full service crafting (while over-encumbered), Vlindrel Hall is the best all-around choice. even the most expensive house, Solitude's... dont have a garden.. whyyyy... http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Proudspire_Manor |

QUOTE(FinFin @ Jan 12 2012, 03:39 PM) hmm btw guys just telling, the easiest way to earn money is actually alchemy. the easiest way to earn money is to join Thief's guild, steal tons of stuffs and sell to Tonilia early on...last time i grind to level up my alchemy (just travel around store and buy all ingredients) then keep making potion. after leveling from 70+ to 100, i sold all the potions i don't wish to use and earn 200k gold. for example, mix Wheat with Blue Mountain Flower give you a double effect potion (restore health and fortify health) and this potion is sold for 2k each. then up speechcraft till 80-100 range so you could sell stolen goods anywhere and with merchants having 2k gold they could buy everything from u. (if u're too lazy to travel then dump those treasures at your house to be sold off later) after which u will be rich.. so rich that earning gold is basically all about pickpocketing, sneak into a house with lockpick skill, lockpick those thick steal safe boxes and back to Tonilia for more $$ ! getting nice loot drops from minions is also one way to go.. I always pick up items that are worth selling till my inventory is full. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Thieves...ld_%28Skyrim%29 so easy. The hard part is fighting dragons and those hard minions. Dislike reducing the difficulty, feels like cheatin when it's too easy =/ loving the thief's guild. doing tasks now is earning more and more gold. At first it's 100 gold for job well done, right now it's at 300. Wondering how much it could increase to if I keep doing those Thief's sidequests... it is said that the guild's hideout will keep improving once you've completed more tasks. enchanting weapons created from smithing is also a way to go.. but so far it didnt work for me. Those gems alone cost time and farming to make (empty soul gems) after which it will take up time as well to smith them. Guide to doing so: http://www.gamersheroes.com/elder-scrolls-...-make-gold-fast Stealing is easy and exciting. Just need to know what to steal - Jewelry is always the easiest and lightest for the pockets to make a quick buck. (lots of F5 - quick save and F9 - quick load required for successful curi/rompak operations. Also always switch to your Thief guild uniform when performing a heist - for bonus effects.) prove that being a thief is awesome in Skyrim: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...09134933AAP4LnC This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 12 2012, 03:56 PM |

QUOTE(darkhorse_86 @ Jan 12 2012, 08:11 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « To buy Hjerim is it true need to start civil war quest first? I wouldn't try to level up speechcraft to 100 and not balancing with other skills.. I know there are easy ways to level up speech but if you just concentrate on that then you may be overpowered by your enemies because they are on the same level as you. It's wise to join thieves guild and then gaining the influence of the Thieves Guild to the 4 other major cities(including doing the specific quests associated with the city). This is because after expanding the thieves guild to maximum, you can get 6 fences (including Tonilia) to sell your (stolen) barang, and their starting gold will be at 4000! For Soul Gems and enchanting: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « yeah heard bout the fences, havent reach there yet.. cant wait.. 4k gold of things to sell each fence... cant imagine my gold that time @@ Dwarven ruins sound difficult.. i saw those huge mechanical stuffs and is too afraid to go in for now... i think i'll get pwned by them if i aint ready xD Yeah I have a dwarven axe with soul trap 4sec.. will use it when almost KO a creep to absorb souls... just got Honeyside... now suddenly miss the house in Whiterun (the fact that I have 2 pretty ladies nearby able to sell my goods to is plain convenient - speech skill sell higher to opposite sex)
yeah the garden and basement floor is awesome.. lots of ingredients. Those who love Alchemy and cooking must get this house.. tons of materials everywhere This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 13 2012, 12:43 AM |

QUOTE(commanderz @ Jan 16 2012, 09:11 PM) cant use the UI unless I have latest patch QUOTE Question: Do you support older versions of the game? No. SkyUI requires the Skyrim Script Extender to be fully functional, which in turn requires you to have the latest version of the game. If SKSE could not be detected, a warning message will be displayed. The purpose of this message is not harassment, but to warn users that SKSE was not installed correctly, and to avoid false bug reports that would otherwise result from this. it's the only game that I've played so far that really emphasize on the ART... gosh I have played so many in my lifetime yet this is truly the first at such a scale...
Been making sigs for it and the resources all over the net on beautiful artwork is just mind-blowing.. and they're all taken in game! the sceneries are just wonderful! not to mention the books that is found in game, the detail on each houses, decorations, details of a city, quests... so much detail and amazingly the game is only 6GB This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 17 2012, 06:24 PM |

QUOTE(Fhaarkas @ Jan 18 2012, 12:20 AM) wow epic mods.. must have cost your CPU alot of processing powerh..just met a dragon on Winterhold College.. it's first attempt failed (was flying backwards i thought it couldnt penetrate the location - coded to not being able to?) suddenly mana tau after shopping inside, i went up to the roof to take a shortcut to the Hall of Attainment.. the same fellar landed on the roof!! darn scary! didn't expect it at all to do that and it was throwing frost breaths all over the place. Was a cool scene as the other mages started throwing Astronachs, lightning spells at it from the ground floor... 2 more climb up to the roof to help me... killed it in a short few seconds. Most epic/unexpected dragon encounter yet This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Jan 18 2012, 01:02 AM |
