which do you think is better in functionality? thinking of investing in one of those so far for home workout. I know i couldnt get the benefit of both equipment without owning both. But for the time being one afford to purchase one. which one would be best?

if i were to chose either one, dumbbell for sure. most barbell exercises have a dumbbell version, but not vice versa

Thanks guy. my concern is to do squat and deadlift as they are highly regarded in an exercise routine. so far only doing both of these exercise using luggage bag which i filled with water bottles / lifting the steel framed bed sweat.gif . I do some searching and found that dumbbell can serve this purpose too. will go for dumbbel for now. tq again

If you really only can choose one, and you really can't go to a gym, then dumbbells.
