Hi guys,

I am trying to set up bridge for DSL-2640B router modem given by TMnet, firmware GE_1.07. Can someone help to confirm whether there is such function for this modem? Thanks.

dcheah,

thanks for your reply. i have 2 dsl-2640b. 1 i connected to the internet and act as wireless router and i wish to use the 2nd unit to act as a bridge to extend the wireless coverage to the other floor at home. is it possible to set up the above using 2 dsl-2640b? i have checked on the advance page but could not find where to enable it. can you provide more details? is it possible that the firmware i am using now has eliminate the function? please help. really appreciate.

there is bridge function , but not WDS ,

you will need to connect one of the LAN port as bridge.

WDS only work with router with same chipset. Repeater/ Client Bridge is what you looking for.

I have tplink w8961 router n js bought another tplink wa701nd both wit wds. but I still can't connect them and make them work wit Internet. is repeater mode better or AP bridge mode? The difference is repeater mode u can only see 1 SSID. AP bridge mode u can have 2 ssid.

I want to link both device wirelessly without any cables.
thanks..

Depends on what you want. WDS normally works with same router only. But my experience is repeater also can has different SSIDs.

repeater bridge can i think, my WA701ND onli have Repeater(range extender) function, so maybe the SSID glitch, up till now im still figuring it out.

isit posible to use AP Bridge instead of Repeater?

Try it... Worse would be only cable work, wifi not working with the client side.

That's also why I opt for Opensourse software, but some ppl don't like the idea of hacking hardware.
Unless they go for professional system like Cisco Airlink, I think the opensource work perfectly (when it works & many research needed).
