GENTING HIGHLANDS - Malaysia may lose its favourite tourist attraction Genting Highlands if Pakatan Rakyat takes over the Government and implements hudud law, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
He added that Genting Malaysia Bhd, which hosts the country's only legal casino, would not go down well with PAS if they come into power.
"In Kelantan, the PAS government does not even allow lottery outlets. If they manage to take over the Government, we know they want to implement hudud law and Genting could be the first victim," he said after presenting prizes to the winners of the 15th Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship 2011 here yesterday.
Dr Chua said Genting played an important role in the country's economy due to the huge number of tourists at the highland resort.
"I was told Genting receives about 20 million visitors a year and pays about RM1bil in income tax. It also has 15,000 employees.
"Therefore, the Opposition claims that hudud law will not affect the non-Muslims is not true," he said, adding that DAP and PKR had failed to respond to MCA's challenge to make their stand on the hudud issue.
"They have not responded to our challenge. Until today, they have not stated clearly and honestly whether they will support the implementation of hudud law in the country," he added.

The Kun Seng Keng Lion and Dragon Association of Muar emerged champions for the 12th time in the competition's 15th edition.
The association, which also won the World Lion Dance Championship held here last year, received RM10,000 in prize money.
First runners-up Maha Bohdi Society of Tawau and second runners-up Hong Teck Lion and Dragon Dance Association took home RM6,000 (S$2,462) and RM3,000 respectively. http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...121-311708.html
