woohoo, D4 made in...uhh malaysia? china? biggrin.gif

Added on January 6, 2012, 11:43 amcant brain nikon pricing structure right now.
D3x retail is USD8000, while D4 is going to be USD6000?

so when D4 comes out, would that mean D3x will have a sudden drop to say USD5000?
or should D4 be much more expensive? or maybe just cos its not made in japan? tongue.gif
No idea where it's made. With high MP count, the D3x caters for a different market. My guess it that it will remain as the most expensive in Nikon's DSLR lineup. The D4 would replace the D3s as sports / journalist body.

it looks more to me like nikon priced the D4 at that range, cos canon previously priced their flagship 1Dx around the same.
Maybe but do you see a logic if they priced a 16MP D4 higher than a 24MP D3X?

somore D800 is said to be a 36mp camera. maybe this is the succesor to D3x ? though its unlikely but it could happen..
Yes, highly unlikely. Single digit bodies will be replaced by single digit bodies. If D800 is a 36MP body (to replace D700), perhaps they will come out with D4x to replace D3x.

going by that logic, canon 1ds3 should still be more expensive than 1dx, but its not.
still looks like nikon are trying to go head to head with canon.
You sure 1DsMk III is more expensive than 1Dx?

I thought 1Dx estimated retail price is around RM 22k.

QUOTE(MrAkay @ Jan 6 2012, 02:49 PM)
dont think its abit expensive? $500 is roughly rm15++. old 1.8 is rm12++ like now?
i guess try hands on sendiri then cna know lah kot haha
You though the 85mm f/1.4G would be cheaper than 85mm f/1.4D ? New things with new tech is always more expensive. The same would be expected witht he new 85mm f/1.8G.

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jan 6 2012, 02:56 PM)
funny la, took out the aperture ring already saved some cost
but the price still up  laugh.gif
Took out aperture ring but perhaps more glass elements go in.

QUOTE(Isepunye @ Jan 6 2012, 02:56 PM)
too heavy to carry. tongue.gif couple it with 2470 and sb910. flower hood is a must to make it look big! photo result? er er personal view only kikikikiki
Heavy or not, I still WANT that 200mm f/2.0. drool.gif

like i said.
going by ur logic that bodies with more megapixel count is more expensive, which D3x is over D4.
would put 1ds3 to be more expensive than 1dx, but its not.
Sorry. The words did not come out right the first time.

Are you sure that the 1DsMkIII is cheaper than the 1Dx?

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 6 2012, 04:01 PM)
my F2 cannot repair.
send to YL, they say no parts available tongue.gif
If you sent to Nikon SC, you can probably get it repaired.

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jan 6 2012, 06:14 PM)
I guess 1D X is much cheaper.
1DS3 RM28k rrp  sweat.gif
Yup... So it isn't suprising that an older camera is more expensive than a new one just like the D3X is more expensive than D4.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 6 2012, 06:53 PM)
simply cos the 1ds3 has been discontinued, whereas nikon still keeps the d3x in their line.
Still listed on website and you can still buy the 1DsMkIII.

D4 preview by Jared Polin

hmm.gif Is his "preview" necessary since he claims he only got to hold the D4 for 30 minutes? More like self promo / plug. Wasted 30 minutes as all the information can be gotten already from other websites.

Cool. Even the soft toy's texture is smoothen. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(craziechild @ Jan 7 2012, 03:19 AM)
i think the issue is with the focal length and DOF...

i remember my lecturer said the PnS normally wont have the creamy bokeh thing from the lens is because the lens opening is a lot smaller than a slr lens...

PnS lens largest lens opening is say 1cm - 2cm diagonally
SLR lens is smallest at 5.2cm...

something like that... biggrin.gif
Sensor size on PnS will always be smaller than sensor size on DSLR. Big sensor = shallow DoF. Therefore, it's very hard to mis-focus on a PnS. Almost everything is in focus. biggrin.gif The large DoF on PnS is very ideal for macro and landscpae shooters.

Thanks
The right way to do it is just to concentrate on the face. Not smoothen everything else.

QUOTE(gerald7 @ Jan 7 2012, 09:16 AM)
Also most PnS have auto everything. It wil boost the ISO to keep the minimum shutter speed.
Errr... Not every PnS has this AutoISO feature though.

I know I'm late to the punch. but I wonder what will trickle down to us DX users in the future. d400? I want illuminated buttons on my DX too!
Neat. Side question is how do we know that the video was made using a D4 and not a 5DMkII instead? Does a video have taggings like EXIF?

I also notice some underwater shots. They already have underwater casing for D4? hmm.gif

Firstly, the DOF. Compact Digital Camera sensor is so small, the DOF is small, most of the thing will be in focus, especially the wider you shoot... With this, surely compact digital camera is easier to take photo, that's why call "point and shoot", nothing much to worry about. With DSLR, the DOF is huge, easily make mistake of out of focus. You need to check and make sure you focus correctly.
Fill Flash, or use reflector, etc.
It's the other way around... flex.gif

Everyone is talking about the Nikon D4... But why no one talks about the new Sony XQD cards?
No idea why they need to introduce a new format card. Would have personally preferred if they stuck with 2x CF. 1x SD and 1x CF also not bad.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 8 2012, 02:45 PM)
Side note to 35 f/1.4G owners, how much did you paid for it? (Oh right, I'm not interested to know about 30% off street price since I can't get that price definitely).

And next is B+W XS-Pro UV MRC Nano 67mm, what's the standard pricing now ah? I saw mauinsons selling in GS for RM180.
What about 29% less? biggrin.gif

No filter on mine and but got it for RM 4750 I think.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 8 2012, 05:28 PM)
SD catching up with CF, so CF Association had to do something. Guess the new design is better, smaller too and uses PCI-E bus which has much more potential. Current CF already at maximum, unable to improve further already, capped at 100MB/s.
125MB/s vs 100Mb/s is not something I would pay something more.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 8 2012, 05:28 PM)
RM4750!? Where did you buy that from? And what about filter? Or you're a 'no filter guy'?
Sorry. The correct price should be RM 4980. sweat.gif A little more expensive but I'm happy with it.

QUOTE(MrAkay @ Jan 8 2012, 06:10 PM)
If that's the case, the XQD's 125MB/s is moot.

QUOTE(gerald7 @ Jan 8 2012, 06:44 PM)
Actually i dun like CF card. my 1st dSLR was a d80 which uses a SD card. When I upgraded to d300 I also had to change to a bulkier and more expensive (at that time) CF card. I was thinking to my self, the CF card looks so outdated, still pins and stuff.
Something that looks outdated does not mean not good. How much bulkier is the CF compared to the SD that makes people complain? If you're talking about 13.3" 1.4kg notebook with more firepower vs a 14" 2.5kg notebook, the lighter one with slightly less screen size is more desirable because of the weight difference. But what I generally hear is that SD cards are too fragile that it gets misplaced.

QUOTE(b0r1nG @ Jan 8 2012, 11:12 PM)
Yannick quoted RM4500 for 35mm F1.4G and 85mm F1.4G
That's good price.

what is BL?
BaLanced if I'm not wrong.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 10 2012, 02:13 PM)
TTL-BL should be in the SB900 ever since the start.
even sb600 and sb800 has that option.
Yup. Still have my SB-800. Perhaps I'll jump to SB-900 before they are gone.

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Jan 10 2012, 02:40 PM)
Actually its the default mode for Matrix metering.

But once you change it to spot metering the SB700 will automatically change to TTL

Im currently using both D7k and SB700.. Cant speak for other flashes! xD
Works the same for all Nikon speedlights. Switch to spot metering and it changes to TTL. I actually prefer TTL though. TTL-BL sometimes think it's smarter than the user and therefore you do not get a consistent result.

More likely user's problem. To start with, TTL itself already giving inconsistent result depending on the metering. We can't rely too much on TTL.
Depends on which metering you use... Matrix metering + TTL is unreliable. Matrix metering + TTL-BL is also unreliable.

Spot meter from the camera is reliable enough for me to have the flash in TTL mode. The flash output in TTL is a result of the spot metering and I find it reliable enough.

Guys, may i know how much this lens cost? Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM.

Also, where i can find price list for lenses? so that i can knew the current market price instead of asking here everytime.

TQvm guys.
I have one sitting idle in very good condition and with box + lens bag. If the price is right, I might consider selling.

Yes, it's sharp and usable and it does not come out all the time. You must avoid glaring backgrounds with the 50mm prime (any 50mm prime for that matter). It will turn out fine.
