QUOTE(hanz079 @ Feb 26 2012, 02:34 PM) Maybe you can find one that says Tough Solar on the dial. Yes, the rechargeable battery lasts as long as the watch, I checked the Casio website. Those run on rechargeable solar power... suppose to last 3 years without seeing sunlight, with sunlight... forever I guess? Even people lives in Alaska wear this watch with no battery problem for more than 5 years! The below model has Tough Solar. ![]() |

QUOTE(sshark @ Feb 26 2012, 04:34 PM) For LCD watches, there are 3 important major components a buyer should aware of, the battery, the circuit board and the LCD display. When the company mentioned the battery lasted as long as the watch, did they refer to the circuit board or LCD display? Generally, a watch LCD panel has a life of 7 years. The watch is rendered useless (died) when the LCD panel or the circuit board dies. Assuming the the watch battery lasted 7 years, at that time, when you changed the rechargeable battery it will cost you couple of magnitude more compared to ordinary battery that you changed every 3 years. IMO, we live in a place where battery is ubiquitous there is no need for rechargeable battery apart from the coolness factor which is why you buy the watch in the 1st place Generally LCD watch display life is about 30+ years! Using solar energy, and reduce battery consumption is good, saving the earth. If LCD watch can tahan 7 years only, then how long LCD TV or LCD monitor can tahan? 3 years?? Please read more about G-Shock watches! G-Shock is build to last many years!! http://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/g-shock-u...lay-416356.html |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Feb 27 2012, 02:21 PM) Guys, Take the TAG anytime lah! if you were me, which one would you choose between these two: Both of them are leading in my shortlist. I just cant decide which one to pick. If you guys give me some input, I might be able to choose. thanks! Even u ask me choose Casio,Seiko or Tissot...I'll NOT take Tissot. I don't see people collect Tissot, for budget-end collectors people go for nice G-shock and Seiko. This post has been edited by versey: Feb 27 2012, 02:46 PM |

QUOTE(sshark @ Feb 27 2012, 02:06 PM) I read about the LCD lifespan in the owner manual. It is my mistake, I shouldn't generalize it too early. Huh, why? the battery very expensive? more expensive than the watch? When the time comes to chg the rechargeable batt, I hope u r mentally prepared to pay for batt. Come on, I don't think it will be a stressful activity to change battery, rite?? Anyway, why worry about changing battery now, isn't it too early? |

QUOTE(Diazepam @ Feb 28 2012, 01:05 PM) Hi, It's not easy to sell used expensive watches in LYN, moreover it's not a common popular brand here..I guess.Would like to ask if I'm pricing this wrong. Or is the lack of interest from the sales section (I do not mean lack of interest from people of this thread) based on something else? I need to sell it to free up some cash, but I also don't want to sell it for a song, coz then I'd rather just keep it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Not sure it's there any ORIS collector's out there.. |
