I've seen myself the Disney Channel version on Thailand's True Visions (satellite pay-tv in Thailand which operating on the similar ways as Astro)... And I can see that Thailand version is similar on what we have in Malaysia (Astro), with all of those Upin Ipin, Disney Waktu Rehat and Boboiboy. But all of the programs only available in English as well as Thai language and subtitle (for 7.30pm movies). Perhaps True Visions also take the Malaysia Disney Channel feed and aired it on their pay-tv service. For Star World, Fox Movies Premium, same as Astro as well... But without no delay. Let's say, the movies should start on 9.00pm, but due to some censorship on Astro, they will aired it on 9.05pm, but True Visions will aired it straightly on 9.00pm and WITHOUT any local advertisement available.

that's me Senior Member 1,548 posts Joined: Oct 2006 From: ugly kingdom	All of the Astro channels are available for free viewing right now (including AOD and HD) except Astro First and Astro Box Office Sports... I straightly called astro just now to subscribe for HD service, and voila! All of the HD channels can be viewed... Even for ten days, but it's already enough for me who just paid RM50 [for basic family+PVR service] per month as a monthly subscription fees... If subscribed to Movies Pack, we can watch SD channels (Ch 411 HBO Asia, Ch 412 Max, Ch 413 Fox Movies Premium) and with subscription to HD service, we can also watch HD channels (Ch 431 HBO HD Asia, Ch 433 Fox Movies Premium HD and Ch 438 Sundance Channel HD). For me, pay extra RM 20 per month get to watch 14 HD channels. For you, pay extra RM 20 per month get to watch 5 HD channels. Because of this "special 10 days" which allowed all 18 HD channels (3 Astro First HD not included), if you are still not sure how many HD channels you can watch with only your Basic pack, you can phone to Astro Customer Support to ask. After the special 10 days, the total HD channels will return to only 5 for you. Yes... maybe you already knew this when you subscribe to HD service. I do respect your personal opinion on whether its worth to pay the "extra" RM 20 to watch only 5 HD channels. Its up to you. However, there may be some people who read your post and subscribed to HD service hastily without knowing whether its worth it to pay extra RM 20 per month because how many HD channels can be watched depends also on which "Packages" is subscribed. Please don't misunderstand me because each person have the right to their own opinions on whether its worth it or not. What I am trying to advise is... for others not to rush into subscribing to HD service, to find out more and think carefully first before deciding. If not sure, call Astro Customer Support to ask how many HD channels can be watch with your existing subscribed packages. He misunderstood info from his friend, a new subscriber who started watching Assteruk after installation on Friday (27-04-12). That person told my friend that he can watch the 3 HD movie channels eventhough did not subscribe to Movie Pack ! That person actually subscribed to Basic pack + Sports Pack + Learning mini-Pack + HD service. My friend was installed with a Byond box but the HD service is not activated because my friend did not subscribe to this HD service. Therefore he cannot watch any HD channels during this 10 day period. Because my friend misunderstood that person, he was interested to subscribe to HD service so he thought he can watch all the HD channels eventhough he subscribed to Basic pack only. Luckily my friend called me first for my advise and after my explanation, he was not happy about paying extra RM 20 per month just to watch a few HD channels which did not include the HD channels that he wants. For RM 20, my friend actually wanted all the HD movie channels to be included eventhough he did not subscribe to the Movies Pack ! He phoned to Astro Customer Support and was told that he needs to subscribe to the Movies Pack for another RM 32 per month. Hehe... that means my friend must pay additional RM 20 (HD service) + RM 32 (Movies Pack) = RM 52 just to add 3 HD movie channels ! Finally my friend phoned me again informing me that he decided not to subscribe to the HD service, just keep to his existing Basic pack only. He also don't want to pay RM 20 for one month HD service only just to get 10 days free all HD channels and to cancel this, must also pay additional RM 10 as service charge which means paying RM 30 to watch all HD channels for 10 days ! This is the reason why I am posting my explanation here about the HD service subscription which some people got confused because of the special 10 days "free" HD channels for all subscribers. Mmm... may also be a "trick" by Assteruk to "persuade" people to subscribe to the HD service. So please check first before jumping into it. Note : If anyone found any mistakes here, please correct me. No problem. Woah James! Thanks for your clear explanation! Surely this type of post should be put at the front page of this thread, and it can be used as a guidance to those 'newbie' who intend to take/upgrade to Astro Byond service (regardless of PVR or only HD services). I truly respect your opinion btw.... And Yes, I already knew that the amount of HD channels that can be received by me is totally depending on what are my current subscription packages. So, like what you said before, definitely I'll only able to received 5 HD channels after those so called "bonus" day end eight days after. The main reason why I so keen to take HD services is due to take the full "advantages" of this ten days promo. With just RM20 (on top of my current subscription rate), I can enjoy almost all channels available on Astro. After the promo end, I'll surely take my phone, and inform Astro that I want to cancel the HD services for the sake of it's not worth to pay RM20/month just for 5 HD Channels. Thus, as I mentioned just now, the main reason that make me so itchy to take HD service is just to release the full potential of this 10 days promo. Anyway, there are some mistakes regarding the charges for the Easi-PVR and PVR services that you mentioned above ; (1) For Byond (External "PVR Easi" 320 GB Harddisk provided free) Basic (Family Pack) = RM 37.95 HD Service = RM 20 External Harddisk PVR Service = RM 5 Total = RM 62.95 * (2) For Byond PVR (with internal 500 GB harddisk) Basic (Family Pack) = RM 37.95 HD Service = RM 20 PVR Service = RM 10 Total = RM 67.95 * For Easi-PVR service, there's additional RM5/month while for Byond PVR service (like what I've owned now), the additional amount of RM10 is required. Not RM10 and RM15 as you mentioned before.

Even though it can be considered as one of the crappy project launched by Astro, with the ugly GUI, constant freeze, bulky 'silverish' looking machine, confusing button arrangement remote control, but you can always record any shows that you want, and some more, still can be watch again and again even you already unsubscribed for that channel. Custom recording also allowed, you can set the recording time solely on your own discretion and custom title also allowed... With Astro Max, there's no any smart card bound to the decoder. User are freely to change the smartcard... Nah, the main important thing is there's no service fees imposed to the astro Max user.... Feeling a bit regret right now for surrendered my old Astro Max.... But hey, some time we need to transform our self, isn't it.... This post has been edited by AjkR06: Apr 29 2012, 11:01 AM

Those with Byond PVR (int HDD) and Standard Byond with (ext hdd) are able to purchase the VOD titles by just connecting their STB to Unifi or Streamyx router. But it seems that most of the VOD titles are really outdated and for me, it's not worth to burn-out your RM8 for this service...

Sumore use S band, not prone to rain fade. And no 5 minute delay on news channels. Just throw away assteruk and grab Indovision as soon as you land back in Indonesia. Mind you that S-Band are really prone to the Wifi signal interferences.... But I've seen some technique used in the Indonesia satellite forum that most of them said by covering the dish or lnb (I don't really sure - but it's either one) with aluminium foil can reduce the signal interferences like below image ;

All of the HD channels are transmitted from Measat 3A and the Transponder that carried it are starting from 12000GHz and above.. Lyngsat information are not so reliable nowadays... I've no idea what happen to the satcodx.com?
