Maxis, sister company of Assteruk, using it's older sister tricks - "exclusivity" - to lock in channels. I can see where this is going. Still, TM already got Trace Sports, and Maxis Internet salesperson once told me most likely Maxis IPTV and TM IPTV will share channels once launched. So maybe some (if not all) of TM's channels will also go to Maxis IPTV and vice-versa?

Speaking of which, TM just announced that France 24 is added to Unifi channel (RM20/month). Astro? Not a single damn new news channel...

It costs money? I thought they were giving it away for free. I noticed it it since two weeks ago.

Questionable if people will want to pay for it tho, the channel is available free of charge on SPB TV. Still, good effort. I notice that the programming on SPB TV's France 24 is different from Unifi's- compared them side by side, it's not just a 10 second delay, but entire programming is different.

Astro has nothing more to offer in the near future,all they can do compress to accomodate uefa! Even if they do maybe another In House or a repacked one.Morever thier news pack is under subscribed cos nobody wants it with 5 minute delay!

I thought the 5 minute delay is SKMM's fault?

This is the main reason SKMM must be reformed and censorship must be abolished. To put things in the word of TM: It's the broadband age, it's not the stone age. You delay the signal also no use, people will get the news from Internet. Even if you censor the internet, information can still come in through many other different means.

Either it's the satellite relay delay, or Astro "delayed" it.

when will all programs in Media Prima and RTM in HD?? i heard TV AL-Hijrah has HD program?? is it true?? then where the HD channel??

sad right when they don't want to cooperate with each other to broadcast in HD?

Yes (TV promo on http://www.youtube.com/user/tvahpromo ) and it's said that TV AL-Hijrah only starting HD airing on 2015.

Yeah. Very sad. Still, hopefully Digital will launch this year. Once T2 has been chosen, Media Prima, Al Hijrah and WBC will be pressured to follow.

Well, they can't air HD in Analog without transmitting in either MUSE (16:9 1080i Analog! In the 80s! The Japanese people are crazy geniuses!) or even at very least SECAM L (816x737, 819 lines). Number of Multi-System TVs that can receive SECAM L is very low, and there are practically no MUSE sets in Malaysia (save for those specially brought in for display by certain showrooms). And both format are pretty much dead anyway.

And of course, SKMM won't let them transmit in the systems anyway.

I was told by a former sssteruk engineer that assteruk actually has no right to censor the signal tho- the best they can do is black out the transmission, and ensure the feed is censored from source (i.e. Fox, Star, etc. has to provide them with an already censored feed). That probably explains why there's a Malaysia-specific feed for some of the channels, if not the channel open a branch in Malaysia and transmit locally (i.e. Disney. Wikipedia says the Disney feed assteruk is getting is actually locally transmitted from a dedicated center in KLCC independent of Disney Asia. That probably explains the amount of local crap on the channel).

Not entirely true... look at MTVAsia.. very severely censored... Fox Movies Premium, took off the entire UFC that should have been live... and not even the 1 hour delayed version was shown... then they pandai2 replace that event slot with some old movie (you will be able to spot old movies when throughout the movie, no movie title displayed on the right)

Atleast it's better than 4:3 strecthed that the rest of HD channel (except FIC HD one) are doing.

hmmm, I assume that there's an MTV Asia Malaysia feed? if not, anyone want to anonymously write in to the channel? not sure if Assteruk's contract wording has changed, since I last talked to that ex-employee back in 1998.

What about shows animated in 16:9? Do they trim off the sides too? Since afaik, Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Adventures is 16:9 native.

As for assteruk, again, tak payah harap if it's not sukan or drama Kantonis/Hokkien. Assteruk does not care about the children. Hope TM and/or Maxis will pick it up tho- Again, Strawberry Shortcake is big among kids and adult women alike (and for some men too). If they do not secure the channel just for this show, they're missing out on good money.

Is the AEM Xtra Link 2 the same one shown in this picture (inside spoilers)...

If its not the same, all my explanations below may be useless. I hope not.

This is a "Made In China" product, lol ! I contacted my helpful online friends and got the above photos found somewhere... I think should be obtained from the internet. Yes... this device also transmit and relay audio+video by using co-axial cables, not network cables. The same type of cable used for the TV aerial and satellite dish.

If you wish to use this device with your Astro decoder, then "maybe" you have posted correctly in this Astro Byond thread. I cannot answer if you intend to use this device for other purposes.... so I will only reply on using this device with the Astro decoder box.

There are many such similar devices available in the market which basically allows us to share the same satellite TV channels on more than 2 TVs. There are many poor quality ones with low specifications such as AEM Xtra Link 2 or higher quality ones which support HD with HDMI port. Expensive ones uses wireless to transmit even HD such as the Sarowin device.

This AEM Xtra Link 2 (same as others) have 2 separate units... (1) the Coupler unit which connects to primary source and sends audio+video using 75 ohms co-axial cables to (2) the Injector unit connected to the 2nd TV.

Mmm... its easier to explain AEM Xtra Link 2 connections using graphics instead of words, as shown below (inside spoilers)...

There is a problem here... if you are using Byond or Byond PVR box ! Both Byond and Byond PVR box do NOT have RF output as shown in picture below (inside spoilers)...

Therefore, you need to connect the RCA out (Red, White and Yellow) from Byond or Byond PVR box to a "Line to RF signal converter box" and then connect to this device. I am not sure but I believe there will be a problem with the IR signal when connected in this way because the "convertor box" may not relay the IR signal to the Astro DMT box so you may lose remote control use in the 2nd room !

There will be NO problem if you use the old Astro DMT box as shown in above picture because it has RF output so its a "direct" connection to the device.

I don't know whether this device use a different RF frequency output from the one used in Astro DMT box RF out. If its different, you must use the 2nd TV to find and lock to the device RF frequency which is easy by using auto search on VHF and UHF wavebands.

Please take note of these points when you use co-axial cables to carry RF signals from the device (inside spoilers)...

I am sure you already knew that many people have been using devices similar to the AEM xtra link 2. Usually many people refer to the device "IR transmitter/emitter" for remote control use as "Cat's Eyes".

As usual, I have explained too much when you only asked "does transmit audio/video or not". I repeat, if its the same device... the answer is... Yes. Sorry for my over-explanation here.

Note: If others find any mistake here, please correct me. I don't mind so that we can give better help to "turion64".
