iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08 Owners Do Not Update To iOS 5.1
Are you one of those users who are waiting for the unlock on iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08? If yes then do not update to iOS 5.1 as it will get more difficult for you to get your iPhone 4 unlocked. More details after the jump.
As you might already be aware that iPad 3 has been launched and with it Apple has introduced many other features and one of these features is the new iOS 5.1. Which is available to download right now for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Well as we had previously mentioned that Apple has brought a new baseband on iOS 5.1, namely 4.12.00. Which as numbers give out is a higher version compared to modem firmware 4.11.08 (baseband) and as it is on a higher level it gets harder to unlock.
So basically in more simply words; if you update to iOS 5.1 on a locked iPhone, well say goodbye to your iPhone for a couple of more months. And as you might already know it is getting harder and harder to unlock iPhone so your iPhone will be gone for a quite a long time.
Those of who want to maintain your jailbreak status, do not update to iOS 5.1 as you will lose your untethered jailbreak. Especially for those A5 owners (iPhone 4S, iPad 2) as developing a jailbreak for these devices will take a few more weeks.
Apple normally improves baseband and patches up exploit whenever it updates its firmware and it is a normal thing to NOT update as soon as it is released.
