Hey kae7 wanna ask how u know there is new update? From the bb it self? Is like auto update thingy? Sorry for the question cuz still new in bb. If there a new os how u know it and how to update?
there are many ways, one of the ways is -> 1st you need to download the Blackberry Desktop software[download link below]
connect your phone , and update your phone. if there is a update, you can update.
but if it shows no update, means your OS is the latest OS in that OS version.
anyway, if you know others service provider that provide the latest OS, you can download from them, install it.
Tutorial Install Base/Official/Leaked OS 1.Backup your device by using Blackberry Desktop Software -> Blackberry Desktop Software
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Make sure you have connect your Device with PC
2. Backup the 3rd party apps in your phone by using BBSAK -> BBSAK
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Connect your phone to your computer and make sure it is recognized as well Start BBSAK and enter your password if any, if no password.. just let it empty , click ok Click Backup Apps
You will see a dialog box pop up saying your BlackBerry screen may flash during Backup.
Now just sit back and wait for BBSAK to back up your third party apps.
When completed you will see a dialog box saying 3rd Party Apps Backup Complete! If you look in the same folder that BBSAK is installed in (C:\Program Files\BBSAK or C:\Program Files (x86)\BBSAK for 64bit systems), you should see a new folder labeled Backup. Inside Backup are all of the COD files for your third party applications.
3. Wiping your Blackberry OS [it is not important step, you can go to Step 4]
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
after wiping, there are no OS in your phone.. you will notice Error 507 appear on your phone screen
4. Loading new OS into your Blackberry
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I bet you have download the OS, just make sure there are no other base OS that installed in your computer
before install the New OS , disconnect your device and close Blackberry Desktop Software
after install the new OS, connect your device back.
Navigate to C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (where C:\ is your main drive.)
find vendor.xml in that directory, delete vendor.xml
then, double click at Loader.exe / Loader
start the installation process choose the important thing that you want, dont worry.. most of important thing is already ticked
Click Next to begin the installation. This will take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes on average. Do Not Unplug Your Device!!
your device may restart/reboot 5-10 minutes
5. Restore your Data/3rd Party Apps
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Connect your device to your PC again with the USB cable. Open up BBSAK if you don't have it running already. Click on Restore Apps Make sure the folder that was backed up with BBSAK is renamed like the next box says. Click OK. The next box tells you that your device may flash, click OK. Now wait for it to finish. When it is done, the last box will say so along with the message that the device will reboot.
DONE !
you may also need to restore your data from Blackberry Desktop Software [if you wipe your device]

Thanks for the link! Was using waze just now, its very good and most importantly its free!
Another question, do you recommend to update to the newest firmware? I am using 6.0 Bundle 863 (6.0.0.285), so far so good.
waze is really good , when i was in my journey in Kg Slim River , Perak . the waze map helps me well.
i'm not even use my Nokia Maps and garmin for that
naah, i dunno whether the latest firmware is good or not, but the .668 is better than your current OS ... but if you feel, your OS version now is okay.. dont need to update your firmware
i still didn't use cfw even after using this phone for more than a year already. And for sure it's this country policy that block 75% of BB capability. can't wait to go back to malaysia and update the phone whenever i want. btw what's the current price for 16/32gb micro sd? wanna upgrade la i think
this is the drawback when u are in the middle east country. either way it's somehow better cos this people don't even know what is 3g. all they have is edge
on another bbm, it reads me 'Reset'....does this mean the thief has reset it? im not too worried about blocking my number since i cant even call it now...
Charge my BB overnight from 12 night (before charging its around 70% left). Woke up around 8 something the other morning, found put that the battery is around 90+% , without the Charging Symbol but its plugged with the charger.
1. Either it has a automatic cut-off system, which it disconnect the charger's power source at around midnight after full charging the phone or
2. My battery problem which although its connected to the charger, it still gets discharged.
So I guess most probably its the first answer, hopefully not the battery's prob!
that will be weird, it will cut off once your battery is fully charged.. but then, when the battery is discharged... it will charge again.. until it full
