QUOTE(Materazzi @ Nov 27 2011, 04:35 AM) high standard of living but they need to work till death, people in malaysia can retire at 50 yrs old live comfortably in penang. Most Singaporean cannot do this in singapore. This is why 1 day got 1 person in average took suicide in sg But priorities are individual. For me, retirement comes second to security. I dont mind paying a fortune for Security even though that leads to living in a pigeonhole. That's me and that's my priority.

QUOTE(Materazzi @ Nov 27 2011, 05:40 PM) were you saying malaysia is not safe? Try to live in penang to know what safe means. For myself, I prefer singapore because it gives me city and vibrant life. I don't like living in the village. Added on November 27, 2011, 5:43 pmwhy do people in malaysia not be able to retire at 50? If they choose to retire, I think they should be able to retire with the cost of living in penang very cheap. I have no intention to implicate that. Implicitly, those who earn a living within the boundaries of the Constitution should deserve better, but total security is an utopia. My perspective is to go with a subject that has already been tested and proven. It should be universal - in this sense Singapore is well regarded as a Safe Country State. Having said that, I still love Msia and I am sure putting the right people to amend the Constitution will lead the country to your 'preference' - A city and vibrant life. But I am sure it would be more meaningful with a 'secure' word in between.

Speaking of Chap Fan meal, I have an interesting business model to share from my observation in other countries. However, the practicality of this implementation resides with you.
I have seen chap fan that goes by weight, literally. The spread varies from salad, risotto, ribs, vege. So customers get to taste everything. Do expect it to be pricey on a per kg basis. Now the question is, can oriental food be served on a similar idea?

QUOTE(deodorant @ Dec 6 2011, 07:54 AM) What nonsense you talking about la. Just bumping their salaries to 30k/month won't make the system any less corrupt. Those YB's songlap runs in the tens and hundreds of millions of ringgit (and probably even another magnitude higher in the case of Sarawak's beloved Taib Mahmud), you think 30k a month gonna make any difference? Added on December 6, 2011, 7:57 amfood+groceries 1.3k transport 200 other utilities & misc expenses 100 room ... 300 to 800 your mileage may vary. food + groceries @ 1.3k? Must be a lot of fat & calories in there... You know, the economists have a consensus on public and private property prices - downtrend. Yet, i checked @ HDB website on public property prices around my neighbourhood, buyers paying ridiculous premium. Either these buyers have a bulk of cash holdings, or Singapore is an outlier. Given the expected downtrend, rental prices should will trend southward. Banks will negotiate for 'top-up' if it goes below the threshold in SPA. With a lower "market price", rental yield should adjust itself. The last thing Sg Govt & foreign investors want in Singapore is property prices dropped.

QUOTE(Murusundram @ Dec 9 2011, 06:03 PM) I have sufficient qualitative (non financial) info but I need more on the quantitative (financial) info. Thanks so much http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_742997.htmlThat graph probably tells a thousand and one stories. I derived my own conclusion and I believe I would strike it big this time. I aint sharing though. Tips:- Oracle of Omaha advice - when everyone is bearish, you BULL it! QUOTE(deodorant @ Dec 12 2011, 09:10 AM) OMG! This can TOTALLY be explained because if you have a shorter penis, you subconsciously need to compensate for the perceived lack of manhood & this manifests itself in needing to be rich no matter what (thus turning to corruption)! Ground breaking stuff yo! We should like apply to the Nobel committee for the price in economics for this discovery! I have one interesting experience to share with respect to Benchmarking. Part of my job was to hold financial models and there was once instance we were debating about inflation elasticity. My senior colleague rubbishes my work and said its time for aPplied modelling. As we have been to many places, we try to recall and source for escort prices. We did a benchmark with per shot as the y axis and countries with some flavor of escort pics as x axis. The results was astonishingly reflective of what we felt on the ground. And we joked that this is a good benchmarking slides. We had a trial run with our principal and we unknowingly inserted the slide to support our assumptions in appendix. While running through the presentation he spotted some pictures with busty ladies. He was sharp despite us scrolling at lightning speed. To our surprise he was interested and we had a good laugh. For me and my senior colleague it was a cold shivering experience.

Lester,
Why don't you work out a "stay in JB budget" for this chap? I think is tough to stay in Sg with the budget you suggested above.

QUOTE(nightzstar @ Dec 13 2011, 07:20 PM) how long to travel from jb to sg? if not mistaken need to pay toll everyday right? I have never experience crossing the causeway during the weekdays' peak hours, but yes you need to pay toll. With your stated salary, I would seriously consider staying in JB. After a few months, you can invest in a motorbike. That will shorten your daily trip significantly.

It would be just another day if my body was found floating on Bedok Reservoir. But the death of Kim Jong-Il can move the market.
I am starting to question the relevance of Random Walk Theory.
Added on December 19, 2011, 2:41 pmGuys, get out from the capital market. It's a big ponzi scheme run by the central banks of the G7/G20/G25(?).

Guys, Due to work exigencies I will be touching down Singapore on the 21st of jan from a long haul flight. To ensure I can still make it back with my family for reunion dinner, I purchased a bus ticket from Larkin. All the other alternatives have been exhausted.
Question is, my bus will depart on the 22nd at 9am. Given the high traffic volume, please advise the fastest route to reach Larkin from Singapore. Thanks

Thanks guys. My hometown is not accessible by flights.
I was thinking about buses to Larkin from Sg. Any direct bus and if they are available as early as 600am in the morning.

That’s a rather strange analogy, but I acknowledged the effort.
Let me share my perspective with you. Everyone has a content knowledge. What distinguished the high flyers from the crowd is how diversified one’s content knowledge and his ability to facilitate. We are rewarded (not monetarily, but responsibly) with more assignments to prove ourselves by convincing the decision makers that we have developed more than one area of content knowledge. To me, the salary structure of any company should reflect this, otherwise it would be extremely difficult to have a sustainable formula.

Hi Guys,
I just purchased Air Asia X on SGD - KL - SYD. Very good deal indeed.
I am surprised that AAX is charging checked-in baggage for SGD-KL and KL-SYD, bothways. I thought it should be a one time cost. But anyway, has anyone tried transferring in LCCT? The tickets I purchased have a short transfer window (approx 2 hours). How efficient are the groundhandlers in putting my checked-in bags from an A320 to A330? I dont want to be waiting forever at the conveyor belt at Kingsmith.
Please share your experience.
