Does anyone know how much does a fresh accountig graduate earn in Singapore? I grad in Aussie.

I heard its pretty hard for my without pr to look for jobs in sg. And competition pretty high?

I am so stuck in Aussie I really want to give it a try somewhere else besides Malaysia which would be my last resort.

What's the best way to apply for jobs in sg? Thanks heaps!

I hate violence too. But I hate violence that goes only in one direction even more.

Can it solve the problem... of course not. But in the absence of a better solution, it at the very least ensures both sides will suffer from the problem, if either one side tries to be funny.

I'm not sure if it's Henry Kissinger that I'm paraphrasing, but the assurance of mutual destruction is the best guarantee of peace. Violence only starts when one side thinks it's stronger than the other side, and can therefore violate the other side at low or no cost. Getting weapons and weapons training into as many chinese hands as possible will guarantee peace... or assure mutual destruction. Either consequence is more acceptable to me personally, than generation after generation of subjugation, which is what the so-called social contract calls for.

then will it give some changes if only just 10-20 people trained with military?? Why don't you establish an chinese organization which train chinese in military?

It is increasing annoying to read the post of Materazzi, pointless argument just to find fault with seantang.

I'd be careful if I were you. He knows ninjutsu and if you offend him he might slip into your room and assassinate you while you sleep, then throw a smoke bomb and *poof* vanish instantly.

Anyways I'm probably going to countdown at Marina Barrage (lol). Hoping that it will be not as crowded as Marina Bay itself.

Do you also speak/read Japanese fluently?

If you're Malaysian/Singaporen who knows Japanese or a Japanese already in Singapore who speaks good English, I think there's very little problem getting work at any of the Japanese MNCs in Singapore. Even if they don't have a job for an engineer, they will find another role for you to capitalise on your being multi-lingual.

Sorry, that's totally wrong. It has not been pegged for some time, since it was 3.8.

Actually it is, within a range, not at 3.8 like last time. Just like HKD.
Probably benchmarking may be more accurate word than pegging
But RM and HKD moves in tandem with USD.

Coming back almost went very wrong lol. Squeezed onto feeder bus at 12.10am (from Marina Barrage). Dunno the uncle trolling us for the new year or what, he combination of traffic + go wrong road ended up he dropped us off at 1.35am at Marina Bay Sands (wtf). Jog all the way in slippers to Promenade MRT to catch the last few trains, lucky managed to get home by MRT smile.gif

Anyways the photo session also bust cos didn't know exactly which angle the fireworks were going to shoot from (first time mah) so a bit blocked by MBS ... but ... anyway Happy New Year everyone and may SG continue to be good to us in 2012 smile.gif

You're working in SG now? I don't have JLPT, not planning to join Japanese company, but western company. Working environment in Japanese companies are tough.

yeah Im in Sg now.
Me too not very keen on joining Japs company cos mostly they're sux.
payscale usually lower, Sr mgmt saturated with japs expats, and when they marked you as a japs speaker, you'll have to bear the xtra pressure and workload compared to other ppl. But my advice is go take JLPT anyway, cos you'll never know when you are gonna need it. SG is a very paper conscious country. I am currently holding lvl3 but planning to take N2(lvl2)

Business yeah, but I dun think they will be willing to give you better rates even if the amout is big.
Cause 1k hard to sell back le.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
They need to change it to smaller notes (go sg bank?) which they might consider troublesome.
Who cares? apparently i do, if the rate is not going to be better even when i am exchanging a large amt.

PS: As I said, that is my opinion. Real life may differ.  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
rate will be the same... coz nobody will show the cash when asking for rates right? do you?
the changer will give you the rates base on how much u wanna change before you take out your cash mah...

my experience is that they prefer 1k notes loh, easier to count mah...
usually they already have a lots of small notes, no need to rely on notes come from customer...

I'm renting 4-room (3 bedroom) hdb in bedok, 5mins walk from mrt station, at 2.3k. I viewed a dozen units around this area (bedok tampines pasir ris simei) and it seems to be pretty much par for the course price for this nexk of the woods.
*
Thanks for sharing, I'm still researching, hoping to make the jump somewhere mid-2012

QUOTE(seantang @ Dec 25 2011, 11:30 PM)

Added on December 25, 2011, 11:46 pmI tend to like someplace farther from the CBD, eg. AMK or Yio Chu Kang up north where the rent is cheaper. And there's really no need to pay a premium and stay near an MRT station. As long as you stay near a feeder bus bus-stop, you can get to the MRT station in 5-10 minutes (5-10 stops). Assuming a 15 minute train ride, you're in town within 30-45 minutes from the moment you step out the door.

My place is about 15-20 minutes walking from the MRT station, but there's a feeder bus bus-stop directly underneath my block. And with a smartphone app that shows next bus arrival time, there's minimal waiting time involved.

Added on December 25, 2011, 11:52 pmYour friends are right. The occasionally frequent "nice" meal will always happen.

Nobody possesses enough will power or underdeveloped taste buds to eat $5 economy meals 3 times a day, 7 days a week. Even if such people exist, they are not very fun to be around.
*
Haha, I've had a habit of occasionally going for fancy meals over here, and I don't intend to have a reduction in my quality of life just to have comparable savings. I'm still weighing whether the additional rental/travel bck msia costs will put me worse off than staying in Msia (where I dont have to pay rental or travel back) over the medium term. (next 3-5 years)

Over the longer term singapore is a definite winner as there's much better higher level progression, and I'd be able to accumulate more capital to start out my chicken-rearing business.

QUOTE(rexona @ Dec 26 2011, 03:19 PM)
You should know yourself and your taste buds. The thing is that generally Singapore hawker food (i.e. cheap) is inferior tasting to Malaysian hawker food. Some people not so particular about food then can tahan. Food at restaurants is great and has huge variety but isn't cheap. Example, some ramen places charge $20 per bowl.

For me, I normally eat cheap on weekdays and splurge a bit on weekends, I end up spending about $900/month on food & groceries (not including special occasion meals which will easily run you into triple digits per meal).
*
Yeah. Figured as much. I guess meals are dollar to dollar, and I should just transpose my expenditure in msia over to sg as a more realistic yardstick, instead of assuming $5/meal. Thanks.
