3 months (possibly 2, so can check with JPJ people) there is option to extend the time holding on the plate with money
Swapping can be done, again afaik,
swap between to vehicle owned by the same person
you cannot just swap out a numberplate, as you said, what will happen to the old plate?
it will not be normally possible
a registered number need to be linked to the registered vehicle
