can paint by brush achieve same effect?  hmm.gif  as in, use metallic colors then spray a layer of gloss?
*
well I use ABing. I think is kinda hard for hand paint or spray CAN to for achieving this effect as you need to work hard to polish the surface make it smooth and even. and 2nd step is put surfacer and gloss black at base. next step I use sliver coat and For the blue this kampfer I custom mix sliver and cobalt blue + sky blue and a few drop of white. finally last step is to apply glossy coat on top of it.

the effect will be kind of different... you can head up to the mecha work in progress & mecha modelling thread... i think chriswoo show/wrote how he got the effect...

for me i just use spray can with chrome base and layer of candy color to create the titanium or chrome finish. i use this method for both my sinanju and kampfer.

haha that nice candy colour effect with spray CAN. that what I love about modelling it doesn't matter what kind material you use as long as you got patience, hard-working and creative, you can achieve anything.

QUOTE(HxiiiK @ Feb 5 2012, 05:37 PM)
can you let me know the brand of spray you used for the sinanju? i like the effect  drool.gif
also is it just chrome then candy red without primer? anyway i think it looks very nice  blink.gif
*
yup you can achieved it with spray CAN but need of sanding it smooth and silver chrome base and also very patience spraying it.

haiz small scale like HG and masking is no problem but bling bling chrome plated kits really left ugly nub mark + a extra work to strip the paint + wasted $$ just for plated chrome paint.

nubs mark can cover with gold marker... btw if the gold plated too shiny, you wont even notice the nubs mark exist lol
*
haha actually the nubs mark even cover with gold marker also very obvious to see due to the chrome plated colour quite different from the gold marker. anyway don't really like the gold as i can painted even better gold than this cheap gold which almost look like toy sell pasar malam.
