Well, me just needed to check here first before I spread something this drastic. I was hoping a bit of good news here... anyway, there are still some grey areas regarding the customs and I need to check it out myself too.

EDIT: Okay nevermind, I found the news myself too. Oh well I have a parcel that just reached the PJ main Poslaju branch from the customs yesterday afternoon (past 1st April). Doesn't seem to have a problem so far. They should be sending it out to me tomorrow so hopefully no issues there.

If I remember correctly it would be around RM600+ or 700 about 2 years back or so. That was definitely a one time thing only, though. Because I generally don't allow any of my parcels to go above RM400 individually. What I do is just shuffle the items around so that each parcel is within the safe price range so none of them has ever gotten held by the customs thus far. Though as I mentioned previously, the price is but one of the many factors. I have friends whose RM200-300 worth of stuff has also been held before for no apparent reason. They just do pretty much whatever they feel like doing there, I guess.

One of the guys in the Diecast thread is trying to point out to the customs that his items are 'adult collectibles' and NOT 'toys' so let's see how that goes for him. But I do believe it is a very valid argument considering the fact that the kind of figures we get are more or less meant for adults or at least young adults so the term 'toys' doesn't fit IMO. I don't even know why the heck such taxes were introduced in the first place. How is it wrong that collectors like us would prefer to buy on our own and not through retail shops that sell at a higher price (much higher in some cases). And then there's the problem with item authenticity, too. 15% is unthinkable. Heck, even 1% is retarded.

It's Bolehland for a reason.... sweat.gif

And there is the medical care issue rumoured requiring Malaysians to pay 10% regardless of whether they want it or not....seems like Deja-wu with this tax regarding toys...

Lol a fee for medical care? Are you kidding me? I haven't even stepped into a clinic in years. And yet I still have to pay? Buncha geniuses. Bolehland FTW, indeed.

For the kastam thing, do they mean regardless of the item's value, everything will be taxed 15%?

I'm not very sure what they mean when they say "toys" but each time I was taxed by kastams they specifically asked me if the items had some sort of age limit..? I'm guessing they do separate kid's toys from collectibles but this is mainly speculation on my part.

heck, i really am furious regarding the taxes imposed on figures and such, i mean, all these are not as profit generation when compared to imported cars and etc.... and they already charges a tonne on them, why they still want to do this??? only possible explanations are either our government is retarded or the greed just take over them..... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

i'm well aware of the 15% tax thing, for items over RM500...but are they implementing it for goods less than RM500 now?
(coz last time they made a stupid mistake with one of my parcel.....it's written there 1250 yen.....those stupid idiots there thought it was 1250 USD....went and tahan my parcel.......made me travel all the way to LCCT.....idiots with pea for a brain)
