You can get a decent bicycle for 200. Go check bicyclebuysell.com.

I cycle 10 km to work and 10 back. Not far at all after you have adjusted to the road and anticipated the traffic. Using a single gear bike for half a year now to work.

At my pace, 10 km = 20 minutes. Fastest I've been was 11 minutes. Smooth traffic, no stopping because all green light.

20minutes huh....guess it's okay

yes, thats my plan lol for cycling to work, and the distance is same as urs too..hehe.

for 20mins, it's normal pace or?

Normal pace complete with siul2 and nyanyi2 when passing cars in traffic jam. But all flat terrain la in Miri. Last time in Shah Alam got bukit2 so a lil slower for the same distance.

Depends on the route. Is it mostly flat or really hilly? If it's hilly, it'll be tougher and take longer.

If it's flat, and you're cycling on the road, I think 35km/h is reasonable if you are using a mountain bike.
*
not entirely flat but not hilly too

20mins seems okay...hmmm

Haha no I'm not. I'm using single speed, therefore lighter bicycle, and have been cycling constantly for quite a time. I also need 30+ minutes in the rain you know. Slick road is bad for cyclist in the rain.

Oh TS, if you are a beginner, really take a bicycle with multiple speed. 9 speed is standard nowadays.
*
yes, am a absolute beginner lol

9 speed? seems will be very expansive, no? lol

Emmm, I cycle one way 20min for 5km on a mountain bike, and I think that is not slow. The fastest I can get is 15min if I am lucky.

The profile is not that flat, just a little bit hilly. But I have to cross a few junctions and traffic lights, and three schools.
*
hmm.... then for 10km will take around 40mins, a bit too long riao

hmmmm

Last time I cycle using my sister's mountain bike, took very long to get home. Because it is heavy(cap ayam mmg murah haha) and tyre so wide so too much grip on the road.

Second hand is quite good too. May I know your route or the place you are going to cycle? Traffic how?
*
yea....i know chapalang one also susah.

but i am new, and i worry that later buy so expansive one, like the mousqy mentioned, also RM700, which is a bit too much if later i give up

budget is around RM300 to RM400 only @@

i am not from KL, cycling at my hometown sungai petani. traffic is there but the road is quite wide hence shud be okay la
