I bought the card and a tumbler with it and expected to get a free drink with it. The barista told me that the drink can only be redeemed after one hour. WTF?!!

I went home feeling pissed.

Possibly a 5 mins update... didn't you get them to try after 5 min ?

No, it was late, close to 10pm and I was about to go home already. And the barista told me I have to wait 1 hour. Never used a starbucks card before so I didn't know any better,

Just call Starbucks CS for reason why not updated.
Was it handcrafted beverage ?

Firstly did you swipe your BCard during the purchase at Starbucks ?
If you did not swipe you BCard, you approach Starbucks to "re-swipe the BCard" if they allow....

I went back to the same outlet. They swiped for me again after I showed them the receipt. No question was asked. smile.gif

usually when im thinking of buying tumbler i will purchase it when a new barista started working but not on the same outlet..
few times i got lucky and get free drink after purchasing the tumbler without redeeming the Rewards from the card.

and just a tips to everyone, make friend with the barista and dont act cocky then u will get alot of benefit such as free vanilla syrup and free shot when ur becoming regular..any outlet i go i always keep a good relationship with any barista. biggrin.gif

For me, it took about 20-30 minutes before the free redemption is shown.

I don't go to Starbucks at all unless it happens to be a convenient place to meet with people to discuss business.

I just happened to want to buy a tumbler as a Christmas gift when I saw the card on the rack promoting the free drink when purchasing with a Starbucks card. I asked the barista "if I buy a Starbucks card, load it up, then purchase a tumbler with it, I'll get a free drink right?", to which he answered "yes".

Only when I paid for everything, got the tumbler did I ask, so... I'd like to order my free drink now. Only then he told me "oh sorry you have to come back after 1 hour". Couldn't he have told me that when I asked him about the free drink 5 minutes before?

won't be entirely fresh but their shelf life about less than 2.5 mths and better than any powdered coffee in the market which can last up to a year.

Does starbucks charge 10% service charge on top of 6% government tax? I forgot already, it's been some time since I actually bought any drinks from them.

I want to use up the remaining balance on my card wisely. The presence of the 10% service charge will make a difference in what I will buy.

No service charge of 10% (as it's self-service) .. only 6% Govt Tax is applied.
