Can a storage water heater be installed outside the house? On the aircond ledge maybe? I am not really comfortable with the idea of having 50kg thing bolted inside your ceiling.

QUOTE(myproblem @ May 27 2020, 03:41 PM) Those of you wish to install storage heater, I would suggest you have to think twice before buying Joven product. I have used Joven before and was long lasting but I am not sure now. Damn.. I was planning to buy the same model until I read this Purchase a 35L JH35HE On Oct 2015. Heating element died and replaced on Jan 2019 (Died around 3.3 years) Then same element died and replaced on Jul 2019 (died 6 months) In March 2020, the same element died again (died 8 months). Now changing to another brand. ![]() ![]() ![]() So what brand do you recommend? |

QUOTE(myproblem @ Jun 25 2020, 08:41 PM) I don't care now, just bought Midea because Modes offers 7 years warranty for tank and 4 years on heating element. Hmm.. Midea options looks interesting especially on the price and warranty part.. how was the performance of midea so far? heating time, electricity consumption & etc..I don't trust other brand that only offers 1 year warranty. For Midea at least I don't have to bother for 4-5 years |

QUOTE(Zot @ Sep 8 2020, 10:49 AM) Mine is Horizontal. Cannot remember the model but 35L one and only one JH for horizontal, right? From your experience, would you still recommend Joven?Like I said, I cannot replace myself because no proper tool. It is not difficult. Just remove the wire and turn the heat element out. The element base has screw thread. As I mentioned, big opening spanner is bulky and space is tight. You cannot unscrew from side. No space. Blocked by wiring cover etc. You need something like big hex spanner that can be inserted straight from behind the heater base. The heater element should be around Rm100 or RM120 the most. If RM250 for everything, then the next fault is worth replacing the whole unit I remembered spending Rm120 for everything, meaning the guy only took RM300 ( I have removed all the water through bleeding pipe. The installed said no need to put small bleeding pipe there but I insisted and it drip water into bathroom. Luckily I insisted. Still there was a lot of water flowed out after removing the heater. QUOTE(Zot @ Sep 8 2020, 01:59 PM) If you ask if I have any preferred brand, I'd say no based on my electrical knowledge. For me, water heater is very simple device just like water heater. Any known name will be just fine. The tank is just a stainless steel inner tank with insulator. Heater element is pretty standard. I'm not sure why my heater last longer and why others shorter. Maybe it is pure luck. I bought Joven since it is known brand and it is the only brand that is available in that shop QUOTE(Zot @ Sep 8 2020, 02:00 PM) Yes. That is the main point to consider when buying appliances. You want to be able to get service easily. If possible the brand nearest to your house. I guess I will go with Joven then.Nobody can really guarantee one brand would last longer than another. There is a lot of factor to consider particularly on the quality of installation. But what is certain is that some brand can be easily fixed, and some not so easy. I guess since you mentioned that, I’ll put more weight on the maintenance consideration when deciding. Thanks. |

QUOTE(sgpdsmss @ Sep 8 2020, 05:16 PM) sunon brand something like that ? Since there aren't much mechanical parts in the system, I would expect them to last at least 10-15years except for the heating element.spare parts ....do you expect how long the tank can last ? miDea 4years heating element..7year tank leak warranty ... |

QUOTE(sgpdsmss @ Sep 9 2020, 08:13 AM) I got quoted RM610. But i think that’s the basic model. No HE nor IB. I will ask again when I’m really buying.Installation by my plumber. Price quoted lump sum including installing hot water pipes & everything. |
