Not that much in term if wastage. Power factor affect current not watt hour(energy). That is the same trick the so call energy saving device seller con people. They measure by power factor but not energy use. You see they always use ballast to show how inefficient the light can be, and switch on the magic device tada current drop and look like lots if saving. But that only playing with power factor not true energy usage. These base on my limited e&e knowledge I learned sometime back. Most of the technical calculation gip back to the colleague already.

Think a good conventional ballast is around 0.7+

Weikee,

If you are referring to electronic or a good ballast you are right. But in here we have to assume inefficient ballast for max calculation. See this web page: http://cannabis.com/growing/electric-How_M...really_use.html

It said, "....A good ballast will have a power factor above 0.9 (i.e. more than 90% of the power it draws is used to power the bulb). Cheaper (lower quality) ballasts often have power factors of 0.5 or less. That's right, only half of the power gets to the bulb. So a 150W lamp would be drawing 300W of power."...

Never connect the non-return valve outside the tank between the outlet pipe. This is because nothing last forever, when you need to change you have problem unless your connection is a union. By installing the non return valve in the tank outlet pipe (as shown in the diagram posted above) you can change it easily by just unscrew it and put the new replacement.

Non- return valves

Union
A union consists of 3 separate pieces + a rubber ring. To connect screw to hand tight. to disconnect unscrew it, you can then change the non-return valve.

I placed a deposit at HomeDec for DC-Heater yesterday. Based on what the sales person mentioned and demonstrated, I'm quite convinced. Main features - low power consumption 350-750watts vs conventional 3000watts, no heating elements hence no risk of electrical shock. A fiend of mine bought the same brand at last year's HomeDec and have no complaints to-date.

Hi guys,

i always wonder does water heaters with pump increase water pressure significantly? is it really necessary to get 1 with pump? looking at normal water heaters vs. with pump, price is almost half.

I wonder how does it work, did they give you the time required to heat up the water from 24c to 50c for the given storage capacity? If reduce power, the time will have to increase.

Sales person mentioned that it only takes less than 5 min to heat up IF the switch has been switched off earlier. Unlike conventional ways, she advised to keep the switch on 24/7 (cos it's low power consumption) unless you intend to go for holidays. She had a demo on the plate which is used in their water heaters. With just a little voltage from the cell battery, the plate took merely few seconds to heat up.

Not much price difference between instant water heater and tank (40L) but the tank has more savings in energy. I'll post the prices tonight as I do not have the brochures with me right now. In terms of mechanism, I think it works on the same concept

Try off it till it drop to normal room temperature, I have doubt it can heat up in. 5mins for 20L water, if that happen it can go Guinness world record for the most efficient heating element in the world.

Don't forget current is use for heating not voltage. It can have low voltage but high current. I did question them before, the sales agent keep quiet and black face.

mmhh ... well I guess i just have to try it out. Maybe shd just try 1 for starters. Has anyone here tried and able to confirm the electricity charges?

Do u think it works as the same concept as an air-pot, whereby heated water is stored and kept warm and shd the water drop to a certain temperature, it will auto reheat to restore it ?? This company is also selling air-pot where they claim a cup of drinking water is heated within 3 seconds.

Storage also heat the water and store it for later use. it can keep the water up to a day and still feel warm.
