To add on, it is a good suggestion to have better heat at high pressure site, but will require a new cable run as the default wiring spec from developer is usually only 2.5mm.
>4800W need to upgrade the cable to min 4mm (or better, 6mm) to support the amps accordingly;
5400W still can be protected with 25A 10mA RCD
*
Ya according to the Suruhanjaya Tenaga guideline book for instant water heater installation, anything below 5.711kW heating element Suruhanjaya Tenaga suggest to us 4mm diameter cable already, eventhough many houses are still using 2.5mm. Worst still, some using way underspec wire 1.5mm, confirm the terminal will burn.

A few brands now came out with Instant Water Heater Splash-Proof Connector that comes with cable too, such as STEC and CENTON. CENTON Splash-Proof Connector that comes with 1 meter of 4mm diameter cable (using Fajar cables, one of the best cable supplier in Malaysia).

How to decide between Joven and Centon 50L storage tank heaters?
Centon is cheaper by about RM90.

I suppose function wise they are alright, concern is on reliability and service

I'm on the lookout for storage heater and have similar questions. Add another brand - HydroOne EcoHeater looks good also, just 1.5kW rating instead of the typical 3kW rating. Just need to know others personal experience with the product and aftersales service which is better?

sounds like rubbish to me.

science say that conversion from electric to heat is 100% efficiency.

so it will mean 1.5kw will take longer time to heat up.

i am using Hydroone 50L tank heater. I on 30min before i shower. i set the temp to roughly 70degree C and mixer half-half. No issue on not hot enough. However i am planning to set the temp to higher as the 50L is not enough for me to fill up the bathtub. Hotter temp might help to get good temperature for bathtub.

Anyway the unit has leakage after installation, it is due to manufacturer's fault and it is rectified after i contacted their customer service. I cannot recalled how many days but appointment was made and rectification just took awhile. Basically the heater element unit was not installed tight enough.

haha I don't know la, this is what their manufacture claim. but anyway it also depends on the heating element and tank insulation right? because conventional using metallic but ecoheater is using ceramic. from what i read ceramic is more efficient than metallic so maybe this is the reason why?

For WH range of temperatures below 100C not much difference as we're not doing iron melting in furnace. laugh.gif

Both are using different tank technology. CENTON is using newer enamel-coated tank technology (similar to MIDEA) which give u longer product age, while JOVEN is using the older stainless steel tank technology (similar to ALPHA and ELTON), which is more expensive, and more prone to leaking due to stainless steel tank having 3 welding while enamel-coated tank only has 1 welding.

I recommend u to go for brands with enamel-coated tank.

my toshiba water heater heating element tank bursted.
it is made out of plastic.
The technician said it is due to my water pump pressure too high and burst the plastic.

may i know which other instant water heater model's heating element tank is made of metal instead of plastic?

Hold on.....

How can an instant water heater tank burst?

Is the outlet restricted?
Is the stop cock installed at the outlet instead of inlet?
Has there been any repair or replacement done on the thermostat or heating element?

As far as I am aware, all instant heater tank is made with fiber or glass reinforced nylon for safety reasons.

Each WH got pressure rating one. Make sure the pump is rated lower than that. Also try to have a valve to control before the WH. To be safe don't rely solely on the water heater built in on/off button. The pressure over long period of time might be too much for it to handle. Unlike when the water is flowing.
