Greetings,

I would like to ask if in what conditions or settings that the x10 produces the white orb (i know it's been ask numerous of times..but i dont see any so far...) batch number 21MXXX.... would it be recommended just to sent it for a sensor replacement eventho so far most pictures taken doesnt really show the "white orbs"..

Need all the great advices from all the x10 sifus here!

Many thanks and really appreciate it!
*
i would think the orbs mostly show in some form of auto mode, seeing as on mine i dont really see huge orbs like others have posted.

21M should be ok already. But you can try shoot at ISO 100 pointing at some light bulbs and see if there's some highlight bleeding or orbs.

i just fired this off at my LED bulb lightstand.
my serial is 14mxxxxx.

my one word review of fuji xf-1.
sux, bad, crap, hopeless - take your pick of any of those words.

the way it turns on feels so flimsy, nothing like x10.
then one of the demo units in KLPF also the mode dial completely broken / loose.
then i look at bottom, it says 'made in china' biggrin.gif

Added on October 7, 2012, 10:49 pmbut the xe-1...oh man...definitely feels better in the hands than x-pro1...and i dont miss the OVF at all.

My X10 also has this "problem" Auto WB on sunny day produce blue cast.
White buildings will look bluish. Now I know it  must be a Fuji thing  hmm.gif
*
weird.
is that a combination of the new sensor with new firmware?
i never noticed this before.

hi all X10 sifus, m planning to buy a X10 too. what would your advice be? using it for street photography and travelling photography.
2 issues I have is that the viewfinder is actually 80% of the full frame , will that affects the edges of the full picture taken as I don't see that through the viewfinder.
Second issue is the white orb sensor problem and the firmware update been resolved in the laterst batch of X10? if Yes, how would I know that?
thank you
*
where do u get 80%? its actually 85%.
tho the viewfinder is not 100% useful anyway since totally got zero info...u dont even know where ur focus point is or if what u want is in focus.

the orb? dunno...mine is from one of the first x10 batches and its not bad compared to what others have posted.

i dont bother with the viewfinder.
obviously cannot compare with DSLR...again i dont bother with that comparison if thats what ur asking.
if u want a dslr, go get a dslr...u will never be happy if u get x10.
if u want a compact with decent enough image quality, good controls, nice manual zoom, get x10.

40.5 can screw in about 2 turns.
its pretty easy to find those filters, also can find 40.5 - 49 or 40.5 - 52mm step up ring...just in case u got those filter sizes and want to use them.
for me, i dont bother with filters on x10...kinda pointless.

first trial
macro in low light
not really sharp
need to increase f value?

f2.0
28mm
ISO 800
1/150 sec
No PP

try changing to spot metering.
u used macro or super macro?

the x10 macro is quite decent.
iso100, f/2.0, 1/50s.

not bad, exposure getting there.
but i guess u focus on the yellow strings in front of the body?
try focus on the mouth or arm, u need more contrast so it can focus better.

ya the OVF still blocked by lens abit, will mostly still use the LCD.
plus its not so comfortable using the OVF anyway unless u got a very small head tongue.gif

but X20 got focus peaking...but not enough for me to upgrade from X10...
X100s tho is another story...

Use LCD... zzzz OVF the best, faster response, EVF will probably lag a bit

also, due to my background, im being taught to shoot with viewfinder lah, shoot with LCD only unless neccesary
*
i dunno if u got own X10 or not...but sounds like u dont...cos the OVF is useless.

and ur background ah? i also got background biggrin.gif

i dont own X10, sorry if i take comment out of context, if you mean X10 OVF being useless then nothing much i can further comment.

But if u talk in general, im sure many would prefer OVF then EVF / even in your text - LCD

Dont get offended with the background thingy, it just mean im being taught that way.

Unless your background taught you to use DSLR to shoot with LCD, else i believe those who use DSLR will use the viewfinder instead of LCD most of the time.

hmm, x10 OVF really useless ah? i thought to get X20 silver to play play tim.  hmm.gif
*
seriously if u got use X10 u will change ur comments.
i got DSLRs, i got m43...all i obviously use EVF / OVF...
but X10...again if u got use X10 u will change ur comments tongue.gif

but just to save u the misery...
X10 OVF is just a over-glorified window.
there is absolutely no info at all, not even focus point info.

that is why the X20 OVF with overlay is good.

Ok. I get it now. Is it because of its limited view in d viewfinder? Hmm... Sorry, I noob, new to this.
*
limited view is a smaller issue than completely no overlay at all...so u have no idea if ur pic is exposed or even in the right focus area.

Hmm, but x100 ovf also like that. I'm used to test shot first tho. Ic. Need to get used tho. Its like ovf with faster reaction, and no lag, vs evf you get what u see
*
i dont think u understand what is meant by No Overlay at all.

X100 got option of hybrid, so u can see horizon setting whatever crap, iso, shutter, aperture, focus point, batt info, how to make cake...

lets do a diff scenario that would make more sense.
take your handphone, put a little 0.7cm x 1.0cm clear window on top of it and pretend that is your OVF.
that is how the X10 is like tongue.gif

hmm, maybe we got different preference gua, i seriously dont need those in the viewfinder.

Anyway, agreed and understand the frus on 0.7cm x 1.0cm clear window
*
but dont tell me using DSLR u dont need all that?
exposure meter? focus point lock?
then u shoot, then see LCD and readjust? tongue.gif

Just came back from HK. Was searching high & low for the shutter release button in Stanley street, managed to only find 1 shop selling, but kinda expensive. And wanted to get some funky straps also but couldn't find one that is affordable. Anyone know where I can get those shutter buttons in msia other than ebay?
*
YL camera.
tho not exactly cheap either, starting around RM70-80 for the screw-in types.
