Check out the report. Seem X10 'White Orbs' is not fix in latest updates.

Definitely not fixed. Just some other fixes and addition. Don't think it's fixable by firmware when the hardware is flawed.

Maybe use -1 or -2 EV will reduce it but i'm not sure.

My result is similar to dpreview. 1600 above it's much softer.

I think reducing the Highlight Tone setting will help reduce it a bit since i think the camera (at least my copy) tends to blow the highlight a lot especially contrasty indoor.

Almost wanted to buy since now price drop, than this orb come kacau. Is it that serious? Pictures seen quite scary. I wanted one to keep in my working bag as often than not need to take pictures of site. X100 budget is still out.

Been a fuji fan 9 years, bought 2 compact, made in Japan, after they switch to made in china, have stop buying. this x10 made in Japan, hence my consideration again.

If you look at flickr you can see tons of great pic taken with this cam. Also the orb problem vary a lot. You might get lucky if you get the latest copy. Mine seems to be the older copy (22/11/2011) so seems quite bad.

Was testing around at night on purpose. Orbs are mostly everywhere lol... funny thing when i zoom it seems to be reduced a bit.

Not so noticeable since the orb in the middle is the same shape with the original lamp on the left. Other pics that i havent process seems quite worse. But i was doing this deliberately so... tongue.gif

Fuji just announced this. Maybe they will recall our x10 and replace the sensor. rclxms.gif
Wait for answer on 12/03/12

"Fujifilm has said it will provide a 'definitive solution' to the white orb blooming problem on its X10 enthusiast compact camera. No further details are available at this point but Fujifilm UK, speaking at the Focus 2012 show in Birmingham UK, said that it is aware of customer concerns and that there will be making a full statement on March 12th."

The lower left pic is actually ok to me. Even though the 2 street light have orbs
in the middle they are still nicely star shaped. smile.gif

rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif hopefully it will be resolved by than. can't wait for 12th march annoucement !!! now if the annoucement is official, will the shops carrying X10 be recalled back to Fuji Malaysia to have the sensor(assuming thats the culprit) change and sell back? how to also see which batch model as dun recalled seeing such label.

am quite newbie here. for this compact, when it says 28-228mm, does it mean the real 28mm or crop, i.e. 1.5 = 42mm - 342mm?

Can't wait to own one....

Glad that Fujifilm takes that a serious matter and try to solve the problem. Let's wait until next week and see what they will say. But recall the camera? Is this happen before to other camera until recall?

1stly, its 28-112mm.
the crop factor on x10 is basically 4x, or more accurately around 3.94x.
the actual length is written on the lens which is 7.1 - 28.4mm, so which after crop factor is 28 - 112mm.
